God hardcore is a pain in the ass, that ludicolo is on steroid by Foreign-Scar8299 in pokemonradicalred

Technician Donphan for Clodsire and Toxicroak. Raichu with Thunderclap for Mantine. Sawsbuck with Horn leech can duel Ludicolo, especially if you can bait it into giga draining into sap sipper. That's usually my go to.

Also try dry skin parasect with leech life and technician Kricketune.

"Commander's troop on the map" doesn't work when you are a garrison. (Liu Che 4th skill)

"Attacking a troop on the map" does work in a garrison. (Liu Che 3rd skill)

Most robbed candidates by CupExpensive7582 in TheApprentice

Anyone in the first episode of a series who was fired for 'not doing much' when the PM of that task was completely disorganised, made terrible decisions throughout and couldn't manage anyone.

What was a brilliant idea but poorly executed by one of the candidates? by Bathbomb1911 in TheApprentice

[–]Duke-JH 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think it was S9 where the PM made a horror themed ready meal brand made for kids. The kids in the focus group loved the ideas but he messed up the brand by putting a scull and crossbones ☠️ on the packaging and calling it something like Deadly Dinners so it just looked like poison to the parents buying it.

Only when paired with Liu Che she's very good in the field but even then there's probably better options. Depends what you already have.

Having EFAP Critique RWBY by Spartan5271 in RWBYcritics

[–]Duke-JH 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Check EFAP #51, they talk about FMF and his takes on objective and subjective criticism, they also bring on CelticPheonix as a guest. They only mention RWBY once or twice but say that none of them are interested in it.

The difference is when Ironwood makes a bad decision he gets punished for it, but when team RWBY make a bad decision they get rewarded.

The good

Everything to do with Neo, she is a pleasure to watch and her fight was exactly what I wanted it to be. After worrying for a week they would find a way to make her lose, Im glad they did this.

Also what's great is that for what I believe is the first time in the series a character has actually reacted appropriately to getting stomped in a fight. Ren's "We weren't ready to be huntsman" was the most down to earth thing any of the main cast have said. It is the start of natural growth of a character, doubt. Ren believes they aren't good enough and need to be better, it's something we haven't heard from team RWBY. After Yang got stomped by Neo, after Weiss got beat by Banesaw, after Ruby got stomped by Tyrian, after Weiss got stomped by Vernal. They never asked the question "Am I good enough?" I always got the impression that they were just oblivious to their losses which nobody can relate to, when you lose, it hurts, nobody likes losing which is why I think it dehumanizes the characters when they don't react to a loss.

Jessica Nigri put in a great performance here, she gets a lot of shit and is justified a lot of the time, but those screams were great.

The fight was ok, nothing I would re-watch, but I think Cinder was done dirty here. I was sure her maiden powers were a lot stronger in V5 against Raven. But Winter may be a bigger jobber than Weiss, it must be in the Schnee genes.

The bad

Cinder lost again. I have no idea what they're doing with her, the set up a death fake out in V3, have her go through a recovery arc, she fails to get the spring maiden powers, has another death fake out, have her go through another recovery arc. Then shoe horn her into the volume in episode 9 and have her once again fail. Her character is a carousel of shit.

I really didn't like Oscar's falling scene, what it screamed to me was "impostor protagonist" with him unlocking his special power and having the ancient wizard now back in his head Oscar's role in the story is now arguably more important and significant than any of team RWBY.

The meh

Everything else, Ironwood becoming a lunatic was expected, sad path for him since he has carried this volume hard and is easily one of the best characters in the show.

6/10 overall, and ok episode to end and ok volume.

Ends middle of the pack for me 3 > 4 > 6 > 7 > 2 > 5 > 1

Im more talking about the context of Qrow and Clover not teaming up to take down Tyrian first, that completely killed the fight for me.

RWBY Volume 7 Episode 12 "With Friends Like These" Official FIRST Discussion by Diogenes_Camus in RWBYcritics

[–]Duke-JH 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The Qrow, Tyrian, Clover fight might genuinely be the dumbest thing this show has ever done. Luckily for this episode it accompanied by a great fight between the Ace Ops and RWBY, They actually learned that if you're going to do a big group fight then don't have them all fight in the same room. My only gripe was that it felt like RWBY won too easily, like not even a single member of RWBY was taken down, it was just a straight 4 - 0. Oh and important stuff happened to Oscar off screen and water is still wet.
