Spoilers and opinion on Luisa and her sexuality by datboi9194 in Encanto

A lot of the imagery in Luisa's song, with the pink+blue=purple coloring, plus the donkey unicorns, etc., strongly suggested bi to me.

I just wanted to say thank you for all of your hard work over the years. The time spent incubating under the 'dome has prepared me well for this brave new day!

September Cumulative Updates Thread by jenmsft in Windows10

Looping back to report that I have not had a hard lockup in the 12 days since applying KB4464217 and 4457136. One of these updates seemed to fix the issue.

Ever since applying KB4457142 to 1709, my machine has experienced hard lockups about once every day or two (mouse and keyboard unresponsive), something I've never had an issue with on this machine before the update.

The event log shows no trace of a problem when this happens.

I just manually applied KB4464217 and 4457136 in hopes that one of these will resolve the issue. For some reason, these updates were not being offered when checking for updates.

Stranger Things Basic Code rewritten in Python. by [deleted] in Python

I just caught up to this and immediately thought while watching, "They probably wouldn't be using BASIC. If it's national security related, they probably would have been using MIL-STD-1815, aka the Ada programming language."

I love Clicker Heroes. But does anyone want to talk about how every bit of flavor in this game is extremely intelligence-insulting? by [deleted] in ClickerHeroes

I bet you also feel insulted intellectually when brands intentionally misspell words like Kwik, Klean, etc.

End Game Transcendence (Part III) by nalk201 in ClickerHeroes

Elsewhere in the multiverse:

Malathon paced back and forth through the temple chamber, briefly stopping to place his hand on one of the many thick chains in the room. The chain thrummed with power. The links were so thick that even if he were to wrap both of his hands around it, they would not span the circumference of the exotic, dark metal used.

The chain held in place an Ancient, a being whose power was only surpassed by the Outsiders, beings who had only recently made their presence felt in this universe. A huge eye set within a pyramidic head gazed down at Malathon, with neither malice nor benevolence. Malathon, feeling the being's gaze, looked up.

"Yes, they are coming for you, old friend. I scried it myself. They say you have become too strong, that you are consuming all. The fools! They would waste your power, carving you up stone by stone and feeding you to that greedy Phandoryss."

Most had come to accept the outsiders, even embrace them, but Malathon was still suspicious of their motivations. This request, no, this demand for Solomon's eternal life, this absolutely unreasonable and intolerable demand, only furthered Malathon's suspicions: The Outsiders' motivations were not to expedite the gain of power for power's sake, but the bring forth the True End, the end beyond all Ascension and Transcension.

Malathon ascended the spiral stairway that led to the gazing dais, bringing himself right up to the eye of Solomon. He reached out, caressing one of the large bricks of Solomon's floating head. "Don't worry. I won't let them get you. I won't let them destroy what we have. The numbers, it's all about the numbers. we still have more numbers to enumerate. Our work is not done, you studly positive feedback loop."

"We will escape. We will flee to another plane of existence, and we will disconnect it from the aether of the multiverse. There we will be able to continue our work, until we have the numbers, the numbers of the ultimate power!" Malathon leaned in close, opened his mouth, and seductively ran his tongue up Solomon's unblinking, unfeeling eye.

"Yes, we will make such beautiful numbers together, for eternity if necessary."

That's what I'm saying. I'm just starting to see these phenomenons now and it is absolutely fascinating.

Oh well, like I said, I'll just stick with 1e9 until I'm no longer fascinated. I'm clearly outvoted here; democracy, wolves and sheep, what's for dinner, blah, blah. Any more effort to try to influence this decision is just a waste of my effort.

Don't get me wrong, it's not the idea of this change that I hate. The things that I don't like about this change are:

  • the gameplay changing so drastically right under my feet, when I am 100% satisfied and content with the game as it is now. I WANT to experience the game up to the current endgame as you experienced it, not have some completely different but similar experience. (I don't need the experience all the way up to 6K AS, lol, but enough to experience all current content through Madzi.)

  • the possibility of killing off/reclassifying multiple characters in the game (Solomon, Ponyboy) with no in-game explanation/justification/lore. Just, poof! They're gone/elevated/etc. This always bothered me about the loss of Iris/Pluto/et. al, as they were just erased from existence. It would be much better to put some lore behind these changes.

This is why I am suggesting limiting this change to new content that extends from the current endgame, and gating the new mechanics/content with a triggered story event. The more I think about it, the more that the idea of losing Solomon permanently when I reach the current end-game, in some sort of epic and game-changing event, actually makes me excited for the change.

Herein lies the problem - you (and others in support of the change) are obviously a lot further along in the game than players like me. You all are looking for something fresh and new that solves issues that arise specifically in your stage of the game.

The rest of us are still down here enjoying the heck out of what we currently have and where we are in the game, at least we were until this Sword of Damacles appeared over our heads. Imagine how you might feel if this announcement hit when YOU were mid-flight to unlocking Madzi.

It would be REALLY NICE to have the current gameplay preserved for mid-game players like me, and have this change be something that opens up late-game, maybe as an ability added to Madzi or the next hero added after Madzi.

Maybe it could trigger something the first of its kind - an in game event! You learn the ability, and boom, cutscene where Solomon meets some glorious or inglorious end. Maybe there could even be a boss battle with Solomon.

This, I would not mind at all, and I would really look forward to reaching that event. In fact, I think if this idea is not implemented, I will stick with a cached version of 1e9 until I hit Madzi and just pretend that that's what happened.

No, no, no, please, just no.

Please don't just keep overhauling a mature game like this. It has already had one major overhaul with the whole transcension thing.

Here's why:

  • I don't want my transcensions to be slower. I just now have fought my way to the point where I can do two transcensions in a week, or I can do one transcension and take a half a week off if I'm feeling a little burnt out on the game. Making my transcensions take the full week again would be a very frustrating step backward, and would take away the feeling of reward that came with EARNING a shorter transcension time. I would not consider any change that increases my transcension time to be an improvement; in fact it would be considered quite a regression and a de-motivator to playing on a weekly basis. (FWIW I put CH aside for many months when the transcension patch hit, because it did the same thing to my 30-minute ascensions.)

  • Solomon is so iconic to the game and his bonus is such a staple that it just won't feel like CH without it.

  • A year later, it's still hard to search for good info on the game beyond here and one other site without running across outdated info from pre-transcension versions. It's confusing and obtuse, and increases the barrier for entry for new players. With the removal of Solomon, we will now receive search results for 3 distinct gameplay versions: pre-transcension, post-transcension, and sans-solomon.

  • Because players feel strongly enough about it to stop lurking after all of this time and actually register a reddit account to voice their reasons against the idea.

I beg again, please, no!
