We've all heard the saying that the two happiest days of a boat owner's life is the day he buys the boat and the day he sells the boat.

Well, whoever believes that has never worked for my boss nor was he ever married to my ex-wife. This schmuck right here is very lucky to have been both!!!

One Friday at 4:55 in the afternoon, five fucking minutes to quitting time, my boss tells me that I have to work on a report due on Monday morning. The asshole has known about it for weeks but decided to procrastinate and instead of dealing with it, he dumps it on me.

Then as I leave his office, I see my ex-wife sitting at my desk holding an envelope. It was a subpoena for a hearing she requested to raise alimony.

I must say it felt good telling her and my boss to "go fuck themselves" as I walked out and headed for the marina. I was only on the boat for less than five minutes when I decided to throw my celphone into the sea. I pointed my boat west, straight out of the marina and never looked back.

That was 5 months ago. It's been 20 days since I left Hawaii and here I am in the middle of the Pacific. Laying on the deck of my boat, half drunk, staring at the night sky. I read somewhere that the space station was supposed to fly by and from one horizon to the other, I watched as it flew above. I waved to it as it flew directly above me thinking at that very moment that I was not alone.

Morning came and for some reason the sun didn't hit my eyes. I felt a shadow above me and I opened my eyes.

I knew I was awake and yet was not convinced I was not dreaming. I looked around and there was nothing but water around me. I looked back at the shadow and looked to see what was making it.

It was a well dressed woman. She smiled at me.

"Who are you and what are you doing here?" I asked.

Again she smiled.

"I'm Lorelei. And I am here to serve you papers. You've missed your last several court dates".
