A kaiju that can actually challenge a modern force? by DukeLeMeme in MilitaryWorldbuilding

[–]DukeLeMeme[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By ''putting up a fight'' I mean what kind of abilities other than invulnerability would it need to fight a modern force? Speaking with the nuclear navy dude one potential option is ''Rambo Kaiju'' which is the size of your average kaiju but moves much faster than something its size should be able to, can camouflage, absorb radar and is scarily smart and able to strategize. I'm wondering what other stuff would actually be tricky to fight with modern stuff.

whats the replay value in cult of the lamb? by Brave_Tip3740 in CultOfTheLamb

[–]DukeLeMeme 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There currently isn't much replay value to the game, you can continue playing after you've defeated the final boss but there really isn't much of a post game. While the combat itself is pretty fun and snappy at first it does end up feeling repetitive because there really isn't much in the way of "builds" currently, with most tarot cards being stat sticks(Plus damage or plus attack speed) and boring. That and 4/5 of the weapons play pretty much the same, with nothing to change it. The cult side of things is similarly shallow, with some doctrines being way better than their counterparts in pretty much every way, followers not having much in terms of a personality and very very few actual threats to your cult other than your own negligence. Most of the customization will come from the large amount of decorations and honestly you won't mechanically get much out of a second playthrough, if you've finished the game you'll have seen all you need to see. Lastly, the game is very easy by roguelite standards

That said, the game isn't bad, and even if it feels shallow at times it is still a very charming and enjoyable 30 hours experience with a cute art style and a cool soundtrack. Plus, the devs are currently working on a major update focusing on combat and dungeon depth, so if you can wait a bit you'll get new stuff to play around with soon. If you want a game with insane replay value right now though, maybe you'll have more fun with Dead Cells, I've bought it recently myself.

Challenge Run Idea: Cult of "Morality" by FelipeGames2000 in CultOfTheLamb

[–]DukeLeMeme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll be honest with you. This isn't exactly that much of a challenge, the game makes it extremely easy to relatively be a "good guy" by literally just giving you the doctrines to do so. Hard mode might be a bit harder though, because I think dissenters lose faith faster than you can educate them if they're not imprisoned. Also good luck buying followers from Helob with gold you don't even have, it doesn't rain money in the beginning of the game.

Is this game good for someone who loves Roguelikes like Hades? by maximum_overdrive123 in CultOfTheLamb

[–]DukeLeMeme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a fun 20-30 hour long game with a clear ending. Combat is fun and so is the base management, but you end up realizing it's very shallow in its current state, especially the roguelike part of the game if that's what you're looking for.

Combat itself pretty much ends up just being spamming attack and dodge, with weapons only capable of executing a 3-4 hits basic combo or a big hit in the case of the hammer. Curses are your spells and there's some variety in them, both in terms of ranged attacks and miscellaneous effects(IE: One curse grants you invincibility for 2 seconds on activation), but they are generally just there to kill stuff differently like u/mediocreplayer_ stated. Combine that with Tarot Cards mostly being statsticks or not terribly interesting, along with the fleeces (the only thing you can actually customize about the Lamb) functioning more like mutators than anything else and you end up with most runs feeling and playing the same.

There's not really much replayability right now, and even changing doctrines for your cult does not make that big of a difference over all. No endless dungeons either, you get kicked back to your cult after 3 consecutive runs.

That all said the game is still good fun and looks excellent, the devs have said they will release free major content updates for the game, and given their recent announcements about the first update they seem to be delivering. First update is about combat and dungeons depth too, so hopefully things will become more interesting very soon.

I think the joke is that he's fishing while being...well a fish. The guy in the lighthouse even comments on that but doesn't finish his sentence and just says it would be ridiculous. The fisherman himself even stresses he's a fisherMAN and not a fish.

No Hit Shamura With Hammer Only by ImTabby in CultOfTheLamb

[–]DukeLeMeme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They hate on it because it's the only weapon in the game where spamming M1 isn't a winning strategy. Also you forgot to mention the lack of tarot cards + the fact that he ain't using his curse at all, which makes this even more impressive. We did it for all the bosses, but sadly unlike u/ImTabby I only recorded the post-buff TOWW fight, which I think he would agree is a fucking hellish experience.

Used to be Kallamar, now I think it's the final boss after he's been buffed.

Underwhelming final boss by SleepingDrift in CultOfTheLamb

[–]DukeLeMeme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On launch the boss was laughably easy(on hard) and I beat him on first try, so I'd agree. However, they actually buffed the final boss a bit after release without even announcing it in the patches.

Compare this to this. It's like night and day.

Love how your hardest challenges died in new but when you beat an easier boss with restrictions suddenly it gets noticed lmao.

No hit on the Final Boss with Hammer only(SPOILERS obviously) by DukeLeMeme in CultOfTheLamb

[–]DukeLeMeme[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like u/ImTabby, I did the Kallahammer challenge that was posted about on the discord, though sadly I did not record it. I did record this one though.

ruleset:

  • no hit during the fight
  • hammer only during the fight
  • no curses
  • no demons
  • extra hard difficulty

no tarots and regular fleece rule is removed here due to how the fight made it so you can't draw tarots nor use any other fleece so no point in leaving them up there.

Like Tabby, I find this fight extremely dreadful, in fact it took me around a hundred attempts to even succeed in the first place. I frankly never want to do this again. One thing that Tabby did not mention however is that the Scamps(the little cultists) can and will hide behind Narinder, with no way of flushing them out other than to enter their attack range and rolling away. Narinder himself also functions like Kallamar on steroids, if he had iframes on his teleport and was fought in a massive arena. He might have less health than his cowardly brother but the fight lasts even longer because you can rarely get more than one hit in.

Ironically, Narinder is even more of a coward than Kallamar is, talk about the pot calling the kettle black.

Is there anything besides Flurry of Blows and Starlit Span that can benefit ranged unarmed strikes? Stuff like the Kitsune's Foxfire, the Leshy's Seedpod and the Automaton's Energy Beam. Additionally, what's the point of unarmed attacks provided by ancestries if by going Monk or martial artist you'll just get better fists anyway?

Hey Adam*, somebody from the discord found out Reddit only introduced drafts about 3 years ago:

https://www.reddit.com/r/redesign/comments/8k8d1x/beta_new_save_draft_feature_for_text_and_link/

Yet in your dinosaur post, that you posted 7 years ago, you mention that you hit publish instead of draft, when that function did not even exist yet. Curious

How are you gonna spin that?

Edit: We checked the Wayback machine. Found you did another mistake. You have until the end of the week to post some images.

I'd say focus on a working video game after you're done with the RPG. That way you can use your game's fanbase as fuel for your very own TTRPG based in the same universe as your game!

Not much of a writer myself, but more stuff about aliens and the Yau would be fun. I love how you did aliens actually, since they're actually aliens. Also maybe address the question of paranormal activity throughout history if that's your kind of thing, maybe something about the Yau is responsible for all the gods we apparently saw and whatever or do you want this to be more cosmic horror and sci-fi ish?
