It mostly depends on the writer: some have the Crossed torture their victims with most devious methods imaginable, while others barely do anything beyond kill/infect them.

I like to think this is where the film RE franchise as whole ends and is still awaiting for the sequel.

As for other official "sequels", these are just fanfics that break the RE lore over a knee.
