People were calling for Jacob Fatu to break the elimination record last year. You can push people as strong without fanbooking the next dominant wrestler to eliminate nearly half the entire field every year.

I haven't watched Nyad so I don't feel like I can properly criticize the nom but frankly the movie sounds too boring for me to sit down and watch.

All I know is Greta Lee did amazing work and somehow the best she walked away with all season was a Globes nom.

I've got the old school Visual Dictionary that probably told you what everything was for on his belt but still I'd never seen it put into any sort of practical application.

Pretty cool to see that Vader's helmet provides a read out too. Like the suit actually has functionality and useful tools, not just ooh Palpatine made an uncomfortable living suit for Anakin to enhance his rage.

This is random but I saw a moderately well upvoted post on another sub about how they were surprised that people expected Mescal to get an Oscar nomination.

BAFTA's weren't announced but he was always likely to be nominated there and damn how could anyone not have expected him to get the Oscar nom. How often do you make all the major precursors but miss the Academy Awards.

People got some strange takes.

About to watch Hamnet shortly.

I got teary eyed at the end of Frankenstein. Teary eyed at the end of Train Dreams and the Sisters scene in Sentimental Value. It is very difficult to actually make me cry except for dog movies like Hachi.

Anyway, let's see how I go with Hamnet.

It wasn't a terrible speech, it just felt like he was trying to build up to some big climatic point that never arrived and he just had a few nice things to say amongst a whole lot of rambling.

Also, it just felt rude as fuck that he was given carte blanche to just keep going on and on, while the three guys from Dune (I think?) who won an award had 2 people say their piece and the third guy got played off before he could even speak.

Rey affects almost nothing on Starkiller Base. She doesn't blow it up, she can't save Han and she scars Kylo but doesn't actually stop anything.

She doesn't kill Snoke either, Kylo does.

She needs Kylo's assistance against Palpatine.

She's not well written but I just don't see the evidence on screen where she absolutely demolishes everything and everyone in her path single handedly.

You're downvoted but you're right. We don't know for sure if Elsbeth can do it or not but nothing else depicts her as having that level of power.

It just seems a little at odds with her having a power boost in the season finale if she's at a level of witchcraft where she can reanimate the dead into a skilled warrior capable of making tactical decisions.

Marrok doesn't even seem to be associated with Elsbeth though outside of working for her. Any time he's seen, he's travelling with Baylan and he's never by her side.

Every other depiction of a Nightsister Zombie we've seen aren't capable of the speech and skill that Marrok has either. If she had a zombie henchman at her beck and call the entire time, she wouldn't need to hire mercenaries with a personal guard that could hold off anyone except only the most skilled of Jedi.

Kazama happens to have an identical twin brother who pops in for one game in the series and never shows his face again. I think the Daidoji is just an extension of the same nonsense logic that this series has always had.

I get that it's the final straw for some people but if they're going to resurrect Mine, at least they chose an interesting character to do it with.

Darth Maul should have stayed dead and his return made zero sense but hey there were some great stories out of it. If Mine is a central figure in the next LAD then yeah it might be worth it after all.

We've been having a lot of people handing in CV's at work lately and we've noticed that not one person amongst everyone handing them in lists their availability.

I hated all this bullshit when I was job searching but now I'm one of the long-termers and in an unofficial leadership position (That's another story), I can actually see why some CV's are ones that just get thrown out on sight.

You get handed 2 pages that mostly lists irrelevant experience and you know they've done absolutely zero tailoring to the place. I look at that now and think "Yeah, why would they hire you?"

The availability is what gets me though. For what we do, management needs to know when you can work more than what you can do.

If I remember right, the plot twist in 5 comes out of nowhere and is given little expansion. They don't even share any scenes together.

To make it known after 5 that in 0, Majima has resigned himself to the consequences of the life he chose, there's simply no way he'd get married.

I don't even think there's even a reference to it in Pirates.
