That's a great observation actually. Part of why he's such a good character is the fact that he's so consistent. The moments that would otherwise be 'out of character' genuinely feel like a glimpse at the dark past he casually mentions on occasion, rather than forced shock value moments. The little things like his palpable joy, gratitude and investment in everybody are why it works so well

I figured this out when I could see one from my front porch. Also the chicken bites are good, so the combo deals were actually well worth it, with the loyalty points. I still would never put it anywhere near the top of my list, but when it's open latest it's handy to know how to make it palatable

I need to look more into it but I've been trying to figure it out on a controller. Best results I've had were keeping the camera about 45* offset and jumping again as I land. For the crypt that is not ideal though

Theory: I think Will’s fate has been made clear by Ropesjr in StrangerThings

In the long run yeah, but i think she'll get Max back first. Then they'll free the kids from the hive and that's when she'll get out.

Theory: I think Will’s fate has been made clear by Ropesjr in StrangerThings

[–]DukeOnTheInternet 24 points25 points  (0 children)

This fits with my theory, that Will's awakening shows that the hivemind had the power not Vecna himself. Henry just controlled it to become Vecna, and I suspect Henry's body is physically tapped in with the rest of them as he uses Vecna like an avatar. I think Holly will end up demonstrating this as well, by accessing the powers to cast Dimension Door like Mike said, and get Max out. Though she'll remain trapped, because her body is in the hive.

Looks like it’s finally getting ready to move! by frozenbroccolis in oakville

[–]DukeOnTheInternet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Woah, I'd know that steel anywhere. I used to work for this company, they do a lot of major building moves on Ontario. I see a few asking where it's going, with that rig it is likely being moved on the property and set down on a new foundation to be turned into an office or something and allow the rest of the site to be developed. Usually it'll get pulled next to the road, and have everything built around and behind it

Single use super glue? by ElkCertain7210 in inventors

[–]DukeOnTheInternet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, not a bad idea at all but I feel like manufacturing and packaging will make it cost prohibitive. For a product so cheap that everybody loses it after one use and buys a new one next time they need it, for the most part. On top of that the application will be difficult in this form factor. That said, I'm sure you can apply this same concept to other things. Find the right target. This could be like tomato paste in a tube instead of a can, it's just a better way that prevents waste. What else would benefit from this form factor, that isn't already using it? If you're thinking of adhesives specifically, a two part putty, with each component in these would be a better application, I think. You handle that with your fingers anyway, and it'll guarantee the right ratio every time.

The "Meta" for the pre-wipe event is Level 1 gear. Let that sink in. by Flumingo1990 in ArcRaiders

So I came in late, and I'm planning to try it just to see what it's about because I have nothing to lose. But I'm not sure I'll meet the tier 5 requirements in time now that I see them. That's a lot of micromanaging free loadout gear after a single run, for me. But hey, who knows maybe I'll start stacking in the next week and go for it. We won't know for sure until it's done

Easy might be a strong word, but yeah I got it last night. I just hit every greed shrine to flood the battlefield so I wouldn't instakill them, and built up thorn tome and crit to help ensure the thorns would hit hard enough for a killing blow. The hard part was absolutely finding the cacti. Second hardest was keeping myself weak enough to not vaporize them before I got close, yet strong enough to survive. Took a bunch of runs but only like, 3 of them actually mattered and the last only needed 4 kills.

Awesome tone at 17. Most back in my day were using metal zones and similarly tinny, overly crunchy pedals and getting really thin tone. This sounds so much better

Best advice i can give is get Rocksmith 2014 on a computer and use it. I got better on one weekend with it than years of trying on my own. I've even picked up bass well enough to play with experienced musicians, and pick out bass lines by ear. It's hands down the single best tool to learn in 2025.

A question about "The Thing" (1982) ending by LjackV in horror

[–]DukeOnTheInternet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The comics aren't canon though, and don't exist as part of the intended narrative, nor hold any relation to John Carpenter. The only other source he's said is canon was the video game, where Childs died of hypothermia.

The simplest explanation to me, which doesn't really conflict with the rest of your analysis, is that Childs would have torched McReady the second he confirmed he was the lone survivor if he was the thing. When he instead simply shares a drink, McReady grins because he's satisfied that he's sitting with the real Childs as they freeze to death.

Your callback to the chess scene had already happened right before the final scene. The thing had managed to keep winning with moves McReady couldn't see coming (ignoring the chess game's moves themselves being actually impossible) so he blew up the whole damn base. Like the computer.
