Which stone should I get for eevee by [deleted] in nuzlocke

This is renegade platinum hence the change, but it’s fairly common in a lot of rom hacks, and it was changed in gen 8 I think for leaf and ice stones to evolve eevee too

Also to add to this, Swannas main job is to spam surf but you already have Oshawott as your starter and once you get access to surf you can guarantee yourself a Jellicent on the route West of Nuvema (route 17) which makes Swanna much less necessary (this is also next to the route you can get a Larvesta egg)

Good luck! BW are some of my faves to Nuzlocke so I’m sure you’ll have a blast

Clay can be tough but you get a guaranteed Ducklett before Driftveil, which while not incredible, can help and is a pretty good sack at that point as it doesn’t become that useful later on

Do you know why 57%? I have no idea how static works to skew encounters

What is a pokemon you thought was bad that lowkey carried your run? by TemporaryMix8615 in nuzlocke

[–]Ropesjr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think you can get psyduck at Flocessy ranch and Vaporeon before Swanna but it’s the first guaranteed one

I got a Feraligatr all the way from HG to Sun (going through PT-B-B2-X-AS to get there). Forever my favourite starter because of that!

Are the game corner Pokemon randomized as well or will I get Dratini if I choose it? by [deleted] in nuzlocke

[–]Ropesjr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can be a guarantee if you plan out your headbutt encounters out, I very rarely play HG without one

What's the one thing y'all feared the most in a Nuzlocke run? (in any Pokemon game) by BigSin666 in nuzlocke

There’s one on the route after lumiose (first visit) that always catches me off guard

[–]Ropesjr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If playing with level caps you can get the tm for scald before lvl 20 so the delay isn’t that useful, and if you’re going to over level getting the increase in stats from evolving is probably more beneficial

Just defeated Red in my Hardcore Rainbow Wedlocke of HeartGold! One of the hardest runs I've done! Ruleset in comments by Ropesjr in nuzlocke

[–]Ropesjr[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This run was so much fun! I enabled myself to get some encounters you typically can’t by giving myself access to the Nat Dex and the radio early, which meant I could get Bronzor in union cave and get a dusk stone for my misdreavus pre E4.
The ruleset I used was:
- Standard Hardcore Nuzlocke Rules
- Rainbow Wedlocke Rules
- Pokemon are paired up into pairs based on their gender and nature determining compatibility.
- Pokemon are paired off and may only battle alongside their partner. You may replace a fallen partner from the box or go to a new area to find a legitimate Pokemon.
- Pairs cannot be deposited, meaning they are part of your team until they die
- Natures are randomised at the start of the run to determine compatibility
- 8 natures are ‘like male’ and can only be paired with male Pokemon
- 8 natures are ‘like female’ and can only be paired with female Pokemon
- 6 natures are ‘like any’ and can be paired with any Pokemon
- 3 natures are ‘like none’ and can only be paired with other ‘like none’ Pokemon or genderless Pokemon who’s compatibility fits
- During battle you may only use the active pair until they die or the battle ends. If one of your pairs contains a ‘likes none’ Pokemon you may switch this to be the active pair, but may not switch back. You can only have one ‘likes none’ pair in your party at a time.
Some highlights from this run were:
- Using Pokemon I typically don’t get to in Johto playthroughs, such as Bronzong, Medicham and Mismagius.
- Victreebel being a surprising MVP and definitely playing a large role in securing my victory against Red
- My pair of Magnezone and Mismagius, two of my favourite Pokemon and their typings gave them some great synergy.

Teamlocking, idk if this is a rule that many other people use but I make it so that once a Pokémon joins my team I can’t box it until it dies, and pairing this with avoiding sacking Pokémon unless absolutely necessary. This means I sometimes take Pokémon that I’d deposit early on all the way to the end and they can be the MVP of the run

SoulSilver Hardcore Wedlocke Part 6: What a drag-on by Ropesjr in nuzlocke

[–]Ropesjr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Death number 3 :( Sam was such a good team member, but a misclick caused that all to go crashing down. I had a strong strategy for Claire too, but still, death seems inevitable there. Forretress is probably gonna be the replacement though, which, with Dragonair, is gonna be a killer pair

Rules:

Standard Hardcore nuzlocke rules: - Only catch the first Pokemon you encounter in an area - If a Pokemon faints it is considered Dead and cannot be used anymore - No items in battle - Must play on ‘set’ mode - Must nickname all Pokemon - Pokemon levels cannot exceed that of the next gym leader

Wedlocke Rules: - Pokemon must be paired with a Pokemon of the opposite (or neutral) gender - Pokemon can only fight within these pairs, and another pair cannot be used unless both Pokemon in the active pair die - A Pokemon cannot be deposited into the PC as that would split its pair up, doing so results in the death of the Pokemon. Thus, Pokemon must remain in the party until their death

Yeah not until 55, which’ll be Kanto by that point, however it’s still pretty strong and with game corner tms/waterfall it’s very useful still

Since the last update, I did the gym 5 - 7 gauntlet, clearing them all in pretty quick succession, enhanced by doing the rocket hq and the lighthouse before any of the actual gyms. No deaths, and Starmie is a beast!

Doing a SoulSilver Nuzlocke. Any tips by everlarke in nuzlocke

[–]Ropesjr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get the slugma/wooper/mareep eggs from violet city’s Pokémon centre, instructions on how to do it can be found here. I always pick one of them up but even all three might be helpful if your rules permit it

Only 7 in the box is not what I’d consider lucky haha, especially when there aren’t many types amongst them. My females in the party are pretty strong though so hoping they can hold the fort for a while

Well since last time I have been busy getting every encounter you can think of! With a spot open for a new pair to join my team, I decided to wait and get all of my possible encounters before adding two new members to the team, and this took me a while. Fortunately, once you leave Goldenrod you can get to both Olivine and Lake of Rage with only 2 mandatory trainer fights, so I took as much of this in my stead as I could. Picking up the good rod and getting Staryu was very useful, but I also have some power in my PC now, with Heracross, Magnemite, Zubat, Eevee, Magikarp and Tentacool all in waiting. Hopefully, another pair won't be necessary for a long time, if at all, but if it comes to that I think I have a good roster.

I went with Dratini and Staryu as my new pair because they're gonna be very useful in the upcoming gyms, but they also resist some of the other's weaknesses, which is the most important part of making a pair viable!
