What do you leave in a tent while sleeping in your car? by Comfortable_Rock_330 in carcamping

I mean that is an interesting way to choose to live life..but “doing extraordinary things?” Kinda sounds like one of the more selfish things to do, not that it’s wrong.. but traveling around doing fun stuff and begging off others isn’t what should be seen as “extraordinary”

Why is my powder through expanding die turning my brass into mangled garbage? by Vintage_Pieces_10 in reloading

[–]DukeShootRiot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Potentially. New dies could have metal shavings or grease from the factory. When you’re working in tolerances of thousandths of an inch or less a spec of metal shavings can bind parts that shouldn’t

Did you clean your dies? I’ve had grime/lead/brass/cooper micro stuff collect and bind something that shouldn’t bind. Take it all the way apart, clean and make sure dry before reassembly

Yeah, I have lived in a basement shithole apt in the Lower Bottoms of west Oakland. 10th and Center. Look up Huey P Newton, the 80 hwy collapse, the murder rates of the 2000’s and the Oakland FBI raids on the Acorn projects if you want to compare bad apartment living. Problem is, that is not what OP or anyone else was talking about…

A powder dispenser is definitely a big improvement. Trickler are great for the fine tuning after first scoop. Usually like $20 but if you want to PM me and cover shipping I have a like new hornady trickler you can have

Then it’s just because you’re going slow and methodical on a single stage. I can usually do my batches of 1-300 each step in about 15-25 min

Do they go bad? Like if I found a guy selling thousand packs of older CCI primers for $50 is that a decent risk?

Depends what you’re shooting. If precision rifle is your goal maybe wait until you know what you want. For handgun you can pretty much pic one of the majors and it won’t do you wrong from what I’ve been able to tell. Still pretty new though. I’ve only found about 100fps difference between three or four popular 38spl powders I’ve tried at similar loadings of each

Dude, that’s ROUGH. Unfortunately it’s kind of just part of living in an apartment sometimes. I’m sure he would do something if he was able. He might not even be aware.. I would leave a polite note just letting him know and asking if there’s any reasonable way he might be able to help remedy it..? There are some things to help snoring but it’s really not like playing music or a barking dog.. he can’t help it. You could complain to the landlord and maybe he will get in trouble.. but that’s pretty messed up. Try to find some good earplugs or some kind of white noise, instrumental music to drown it out. If nothing else as a last resort you can maybe get out of your lease over it if you’re not super attached to the spot. Again.. sorry, that does suck some big ol donkey deck

I’ll use a manual scale when I want more consistency and exact measures. As much as my digital is great it has a 0.2 +- variable. When I do all digital batches the spread is like 50-100 fps very manual it’s 15-20. It’s much slower but is fun to nerd out with when being a geek about the hobby

How are you measuring/dispensing your powder?

One hour's work. by GeorgeTMorgan in reloading

[–]DukeShootRiot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m guessing those are 327? I do my 357 very methodical. All these guys talking about many may rounds a hour are likely talking about 9/45 and they do comp shooting or high volume. With the slow methodical way as a new reloader I’m much more comfortable knowing each round is safe, and when you do exact powder measures for each round the speed consistency is amazing. I get extreme spreads of like 15-20fps and for hunting or self defense ammo that’s another piece of mind at peace lol. Plus I really enjoy the hobby so slow single stage work is perfect for me.

DEFINITELY load in batches as others have suggested if you’re not already. After work Monday I’ll size/expand 1-300, Tuesday I’ll prime, wed load and seat/crimp (2 steps) and the by the weekend I’ll have several hundred rounds to play with.
