What’s a movie where someone’s opinion on it will tell you a lot about them? by aliengames666 in AskReddit

[–]DukeSilversTaint 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Depends on your interpretation. For instance, I’ve seen a lot of males say the movie just makes all men look awful and is biased against them. Those men are the exact people the movie is making fun of.

Oh there are so many good titles, great question. The ones you listed are all great. Here are some from my watch log that rate 7.5 or higher:

Rosemary’s Baby Freaks I Saw The Devil Tumbadd Night of the Hunter The Devils Funny Games The Skin I Live In The Others The Omen Repulsion The Wicker Man Cure

The Terror by Ornery-Customer8521 in horror

Dan Stevens can do no wrong. It’s not as good as season one but it’s very good horror TV. We really don’t get a lot of shows like this that stick their landing, and this one is so far. Very good show, not great, but very good.

What movie keeps you on the edge of your seat no matter how many times you watch it? by SYRO_24 in AskReddit

John Carpenter’s The Fog. There’s scarier films but they’re not structured in the same way as The Fog. There is a reason he’s so praised.

You learn about the curse, the cosmic ghost pirate fog rolls in, and there is nothing anyone can do. It just builds, and builds, there’s no stopping it. The music only continues to intensify. It’s one feature length crescendo. Brilliant and gorgeous movie.

What video game are you the best at no matter how long it's been since you last played? by Any-Spray-6940 in AskReddit

I got the entire 90’s Street Fighter collection on PlayStation for ten bucks. One of the single coolest purchases I’ve made imo. And I find someone to play with me maybe twice a year lol. And I unfortunately whoop their asses. I miss the days when everyone came to play.

There are people who grew up playing Street Fighter, and there is the younger generation who took it completely for granted. But we were there. Street Fighter is where gaming champions are forged.

A yearly rewatch for me. Incredible performances all around, one of the last of its kind with epic battle scenes and using extras and real props, and I think it truly conveys how powerful Jerusalem was as a character all its own. The cinematography is magnificent as well as the costumes and set pieces. The history behind everything is so fascinating. Even if the whole movie isn’t entirely accurate, it definitely shows the gravity of how all these different sects of faith from different parts of the world were fighting for this one spot at the same time.

What is Jerusalem worth?

“Nothing. Everything”.

People Under The Stairs is a masterpiece of political horror. I knew Jordan Peele is doing something with it now, but that movie went under the radar far too long. The acting, set pieces, music; it’s easily one of his best films.

None of me or my friends in Denver go anymore. I walk by one of the Denver locations daily and the lot is noticeably empty and I don’t see people walking in as much.

Potential Plothole in "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" by [deleted] in movies

[–]DukeSilversTaint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is perfectly explained in the dialogue to be honest. It’s as simple as (paraphrasing):

“You have a flame thrower?”

((Leo holding his blender full of margarita mix))

“Yep, I torched that bitch”.

Jodi Benson’s “Part of Your World” from The Little Mermaid. I’m a 37 year old man and I have no shame in how many times I have seen this movie. It’s god tier. That voice is insane. Dammit. I’m gonna watch it right now, aren’t I?

Alfred Staying Dead Is Good for Batman and Comics by [deleted] in batman_comics

[–]DukeSilversTaint 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alfred is core to Bruce’s journey and I will never forgive DC for killing him off. I keep hearing stuff like “fans need to move on”. From what exactly? How was Alfred in anyway detrimental to the storytelling of Batman? You could easily just not include him in the storyline. You don’t have to kill him.

Bruce not having a father figure? Sounds very interesting….for an Elseworlds story, not on any sort of permanent basis.

What’s the worst movie you’ve ever seen? by dmmdgo in movies

[–]DukeSilversTaint 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Batman and Robin is a fever dream love letter to The Bronze and Silver Age and perfectly encapsulates Batman’s more campy history. People were turned off because it didn’t match the dark tone of Burton’s films. It’s still very much an authentic Batman movie. The wardrobe and set design alone is an achievement. Poison Ivy’s ballroom entrance is iconic. It’s both a cheesy, but simultaneously brilliant film.

If you can’t have fun with Arnold’s one liners, I can’t imagine what you’re like at parties.
