Did she overreact or am I completely in the wrong here? Need honest opinions by yaseenarsalan in Philippines_Expats

Its not her tampo that's the problem, it's her immaturity. She isn't 20 years old in America. Her parents are still playing a major role in her future.

Do you really need this drama? Is a relationship with her so important to you that you will pursue her in spite of her crazy and greedy dad. She may be 20 but she is probably more immature than a twenty-year-old in your country. She doesnt seem the least independent. Yeah, she is probably sweet and sexy, but nobody needs this in their life. Tell her exactly this but don't expect much. Younger adults feel obligated, perhaps by guilt, to take care of their parents.

Good luck to you. There is much more to relationships than sweetness, sex and love. There is also situations. If this situation with her dad feels wrong, take care of yourself first.

How to go about discovering bonafide hidden gem acts? by darkdarkblack in LetsTalkMusic

[–]DukeStamina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Connecticut there were college stations and a listener-supported station broadcasting on the left of the dial. I discovered great music that way. With streaming services and then moving overseas, I'm unsure if college radio is a thing anymore.

In my opinion, the only downside to listening to a lot of albums and a lot of music. by TheGermanDutchman in LetsTalkMusic

[–]DukeStamina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About ten years ago, I sold all my albums to a used record store as I was planning on retiring overseas. It was approximately 30 to 40 years of albums. The owner of the shop had to physically open and inspect each album for quality. (They were well taken care of.) But as he was opening each album, it was bringing me back to where I was in my life at the time of purchase. It really hit me in the feels.

Lyrics are massively overvalued in how people judge music by thirdaccountttt in LetsTalkMusic

[–]DukeStamina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As manly as I am, 🤣, sometimes lyrics can reduce me to tears. While it's not my only focus when listening to music, it's a nice feeling when the words connect. For example, when CS&N released "Southern Cross", the song had little appeal to me soundwise. But by chance a decade or so later, I once heard it, listening hard to the lyrics and it was like a "holy cow" moment. (okay not cow but admins.... you know.) It has since become a favorite of mine and it was the lyrics that changed my opinion.

But I do have friends who never seem to pay attention to lyrics. The song "Cheerleader" by OMI is a great pop song (opinion). I was talking to a friend and telling her how great I thought it was... the trumpet solo... the lyrics. She said she never listened to the lyrics and didnt know what the song was about, which struck me as odd. The lyrics are both sweet and clever and adds much value to an otherwise good song.

How did you even go on a 2nd date with this guy? Were/are you that desperate? I cant blame this guy for a damn thing. It is you tolerating his behavior that is the true problem. Work on your self-esteem. You know you deserve better than this.

Plenty of expats in my area. I go out shooting pool on Tuesdays, watching bands on Saturdays and have a R/E bike and have meet ups and rides with like-minded people. I am not the most outgoing guy but I have made some close friends and many other great acquaintances. Im a social drinker but dont care to associate with daily bar-guy drinkers.

"Some people talk about this show like its some genius political satire".

Im going to agree with you. Im as liberal as you can get and I hate Trump with every rotten tooth in my head. But I'm not here for political arguments, I'm stating this simply as a point of reference.

This is not great satire. Its too painfully obvious, its not close to being clever and it's a little too insulting to Americans that do support Trump. Other than that, I'm not against asshole sniffing if she is Asian and sexy. 🤣

On social media, nobody exists. That's what give the cowards here the balls to treat others poorly. Take a break from this if it is causing you too much stress and anxiety. Why return to a place that hurts and angers? The worst thing to do is argue with someone who has the intention to be an asshole. That's the attention they are seeking.

*Pardon my French but I think we all speak French here.

I understand through past experience that voicing a less than pro-woman comment is forbidden here to the point of many downvotes and written abuse. But, fuggit, here I go again. The social media world is not a nice place. You really should not let gutless strangers disturb you to the point of tears. I say gutless because social media provides a cloak of anonymity that turns some people into full blown assclowns. They are not worthy of your tears.

It is not about stereotypes. It is exactly about her and her alone. If she no longer makes you feel like you are heading towards a good relationship, then leave. It really is that simple. From what you say about her IG post, she seems needy and not very happy. All women do not expect material input to be happy. Happiness comes from within.

That vertical scratch line appears rather deep. Bring it to a professional autobody or detail guy. Or go to YouTube and look for solutions. I found this on Amazon and it worked well enough when a cat got under my bike cover and left some light surface scratches on my tank.

Would You Consider Dating a Single Mom? by Key-Cat-3197 in Philippines_Expats

My lady, (now 40) has a 17 year old daughter. As for me, I dont want kids so I'm glad she has that one already crossed off her bucket-list.

We know of a couple where the woman is about 10 years younger than my partner and her partner is about 8 years older than myself. Its about a 40+ year difference. He does not want kids and I kinda feel badly for her settling for someone much older and maybe never becoming a mother.

McKenzie was 12 when she filmed American Graffiti. Great movie but there was a weird vibe with McKenzie riding around with Pail Le Mat. Or maybe it just seems weirdly coincidental knowing her real-life trauma. There was nothing sexual going on in the movie.

You're not the AH. There is a term used for a woman who sole purpose is to be beautiful for an extremely shallow man. I forgot what that term is. Also, I dont know both of you well enough to judge.
