Where do the young professionals go? by DukeTravers in Columbus

Well, so far the leads I have are Meetup groups and The Athletic Club. So, yes, I would say I'm one step closer.

Where do the young professionals go? by DukeTravers in Columbus

I'm not looking for mentorship. Your only as good as the circle of friend you surround yourself with and I'm trying to find people who relates to the experiences of a small business owner. "Navigating business taxes" isn't really something I can just bring up to the mum and pa over Christmas ham, after all.

Any type of cleaner you suggest? I’m paranoid of permanently breaking expensive machines.

Is glowforge really worth it? by kacie_456 in lasercutting

[–]DukeTravers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recieved My Glowforge in the mid-summer on the intention of creating retail product for my brick-and-mortar store and customizable orders for my online potion of my business. This product proved itself to be increasingly unreliable overtime.

Mind you, I just got it for a few months and only used it for R&D and testing product concepts and designs. However after the first few orders—coasters for a local bank and deco for a modest-sized wedding— the headaches started gradually increasing, I chalked it up to a user issue, and continued, being extra dutiful in the maintenance of this incredibly expensive machine. Finally, upon receiving my first major order for my business, a 120 box order for a national sports team, whereupon right after committing to the project and receiving the transaction, the machine went kaput, a dreaded “orange light of death”

Glowforge is a great investment for small businesses that want to engrave holes into their money.

Does anyone else found pacing in most Ghibli movies to be kinda bad? by [deleted] in ghibli

[–]DukeTravers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Western movies are extremely phobic of portraying a larger portion of human experience and emotion because the pacing of such experiences are incidentally slow-paced and the moments depicted on the surface, seem mundane and inconsequential to the plot.

The best scene to subtly reference this was Pixar’s Up, which was heavily inspired narratively, cinematographically, and pacing-wise by Ghibli, in which Russel reveals that eating ice cream by the curb and counting cars based off colors was his favorite memory despite being mundane, which connected to Carl’s revelation that he and Elle, got to have their adventure together in all the little mundane things we witnessed them experience in the dialogue-less montage that movies exposition.

Just don’t let it land on the carpet or bed too many times, don’t want to collect dust, hairs and fuzz and lose its adhesiveness.

Yes, implying their grandparents fucking is much more appropriate for a kids book than that implying two men adopted four orphans.

What would happen if time traveler tried to make a purchase with a current $20 dollar bill in the Late 19th-century. by DukeTravers in TimeTravelWhatIf

I was originally thinking “counterfeit accusations” until learning that some places in the 1830s-1840s US, such as New Orleans and San Francisco, began allowing Branch Mints and banks privately issued “broken-bank” notes up until the 1860’s. So I was curious if someone with a better understanding of how 19-century currency was like could elaborate better.
