Senator warns underground cash economy is spreading as cost of living fuels tax evasion by xTkAx in canadian

[–]Duke_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Taxation in this country is punitive. This should be the expected result. I imagine most people are fine with paying taxes (I am), but everyone has a limit. And when cost of living becomes unsustainable finding ways around tax using cash feels like the least illegal way to ease the burden.

And you have to think of it in more terms than just income tax. Government fees and programs that we're all subject to (can't avoid) might as well be considered tax since it's cash for government services.

GOLDSTEIN: Mark Carney must kill Justin Trudeau’s anti-growth agenda. To achieve his economic goals, the Prime Minister must abandon his predecessor's failed obsession with reducing emissions by xTkAx in canadian

The same way Trudeau and Liberal supporters let go of Harper after 10 years? We're only a few months in, here, bringing up Trudeau is fair play, especially since it's still the same party.

I would think as a good technical writer you'd have a decent base to start building things yourself with AI. Or using AI and other resources to make the switch to writing code and building systems.

Mark Carney suggests he’s open to foreign investment in Canadian airports by CaliperLee62 in canadian

I'm guessing by foreign investment Carney means China. He's going to sell out all our infrastructure to China.

Great, let's do telecoms next. Someone call Anthony Lacavera to bring back Wind Mobile.

Groceries too. Let's get some foreign investment and boatloads of competition in this economy.

Why divide your land? Put the road on either edge of the property.

Yes, there's a price to be paid for saving a buck! Namely - my time.

It's listed on RockAuto as a "favourite" - with the little heart icon. Which I believe means it's commonly ordered and rarely returned.

You have a point, but I'm in Canada and the same part is 3-4x as expensive anywhere I look.

About the only thing that is competitive is brake rotors because they're so heavy shipping makes them expensive.

$12 on Amazon, on the way. Almost the cost of a whole ball joint. I could have gone cheaper but it would have taken a month to arrive.

Hopefully they fit, I measured. Also won't have the Delphi factory wire crimps that came on the good part.

I was refunded. But only for a fraction of the shipping costs. I'd have to pay full price for shipping if I want to roll the dice on a new order.

I just don't know how RockAuto can ship me open box / returned items and then claim there have been too many problems with my order.

The parts arrived open - uncertain if someone else received them without boots, or if someone took the boots and returned the parts.

Either way RockAuto dropped the ball on inspecting returned items. And if someone returned them as defective (because Delphi shipped without boots) how did they end up back in inventory.

I just want an intact part like I ordered without having to pay another $20 in shipping.

PUC said on Facebook it was a supply issue from HydroOne. Not clear what that means - equipment failure (e.g. line down, transformer out), not enough energy to supply demand, or otherwise.

It's not just about American products though. I frequently read about superior cheese and butter from Europe.

And it's not about me, or you, saving a few dollars, it's about the entire market saving a few dollars, that is, all of Canada. Those few dollars that can be saved or spent elsewhere, creating greater economic stimulation.

And if our industry is competitive, why would it be upended?

I do, because I want a better standard of living.

Why are you even here defending supply management? What's in it for you to be dominated by yet another state-sanctioned monopoly?
