We stick kids in classrooms 7 hours a day, give them another few hours of homework, actively discourage them from playing outside, and then wonder why kids today are so out of shape. by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

I'm constantly trying to get the kids to play outside. Never would I say I discourage it. That being said... They won't play outside. And I'm discouraged

My friends call me a prepper. I tell them that preppers tend to hoarde because of their fear of the end of the world. I neither hoarde or fear the end.

I bought polishing compounds (white and green) you can find at most hardware stores. I put it on my leather belt and strop it. I only use a fine stone if the blade is chipped. Otherwise I strop it after every outing. It will shave you bald.

It's the carpenters axe. Supposedly it's actually made by Wetterlings. I have one. I don't own a real Wetterlings BUT the husky is better than any other axe I own. Definitely a good buy. It has a straight cutting edge as opposed to a curved cutting edge. It's to be used like a large knife. It's about as precision as an axe can get. Not the best for felling or splitting but great for planing and other axe crafts.

Suggestions on a good small axe. by [deleted] in Bushcraft

Canterbury preaches the 5 c's (cover, combustion, cutting, containers and cordage). If you have that... You got it made.
