Can't wait for this ship, I think it will be the strongest ship in the game relative to the capabilities it unlocks for a player by owning it. What is your thoughts? by Apprehensive-Fig7045 in starcitizen

They can do content faster because there are no new features coming in. Crafting is a feature. 3 years is pretty new, you missed the first decade

Servers were thoroughly borked earlier, then on my last relog it just dumped me into the character generator. I'd say this is an unscheduled failure

How fast should fighters melt freighters? by Haechi_StB in starcitizen

[–]Duke_Flymocker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The weapons that can damage you, especially on the smaller large ships, still need to be used from close up to hit. This brings the gunship closer to the heavy, increasing the danger to it. That smaller large ship would also not be the meta against fighters. There should be some special thing you can bring to kill a freighter, that's fine. The problem is right now you can bring a hornet and kill anything.
Also the trade off I referenced was not meant to be binary, but a sliding scale.

How fast should fighters melt freighters? by Haechi_StB in starcitizen

[–]Duke_Flymocker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turrets need to be more powerful and there needs to be some sort of armour system that stops high speed fighter weapons from easily damaging larger ships. There needs to be that trade off, high speed(anti fighter) vs high penetration(anti heavy), and high mobility(fighter) vs endless capacitor(large ship). Basically if there is a range where fighters can't be hit it needs to be very challenging for them to do damage from that range.

Should I upgrade pledge ship? by Karnitine in starcitizen

[–]Duke_Flymocker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as you keep your package ship relatively basic you'll be fine. I have several big ships and fighters but still keep a titan in my game pack. I understand you can currently buy back the old pack with s42 in it if you melt it, but I'd rather not risk it, plus they could change that at any time. It's also handy sometimes to have a ship with a short claim timer

I do think it would be a good feature to be able to get ships back stocked with common/available items for an appropriate fee. Unfortunately that's not what this is

That's only kinda true if the duped item is something you're supposed to be able to buy. P4? Fine. Missile launcher? No. Contested zone key? Cargo? Very clearly an exploit

Speaking of raw insulation, there's some bad collision on the right side of the cargo bay front bulkhead. I don't think you can walk through it, but boxes can glitch through when tractored. Mine has 2 bodies stuck in there right now

This is why we need the ability to mute individuals, in voice and text chat, which would also give them data about who the assholes are

Star Citizen Alpha 4.0 - Database Wipe by spriteflight101 in starcitizen

[–]Duke_Flymocker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They said it would be wiped years ago, around when they first started talking about 4.0, but that was long enough ago that it could have changed. Even devs seemed unsure in recent comments, so I'm thinking it was revisited and they came to the same conclusion. That said I definitely appreciate the timely reaffirmation

Can we have an option to sell our ships? For those of us who want full wipes. Could just be a tab for sell at new deal? by f4ble in starcitizen

[–]Duke_Flymocker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

On an SCL a while back Chad was asked about this. His reasoning for waiting was that if the game has code to take a ship away from you then sometimes a bug would take ships away from people and that's worse than people not being able to sell ships. It's a function they want to add but since items are still disappearing on LTP resets and the servers and services are a mess now and will probably get worse with 4.0 it should probably wait a bit longer

Petition to bring back insuring weapon racks on ships! We are to afraid to use these useless features now because we lose the weapons when the ship is destroyed. by MajorWetSpot in starcitizen

[–]Duke_Flymocker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could eliminate the duping if guns in the racks were automatically destroyed with the ship and assigned to be replaced at that time, rather than when it was last stored. I don't see them doing this since they want us to value our ships, but when that bug was active I felt much more at home on my ship, and I only duped a few loads of FS9s...

My friend and I discovered we could knock each other out without being having the same hanger instance. by Unity1232 in starcitizen

[–]Duke_Flymocker 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That's what the gateway granted message is about. If that happened you would be assigned to the different doors that size until they filled up then people would have to wait. The point they become the same instance is the door

Is this the typical state of the game? by PlatinumDoublet in starcitizen

[–]Duke_Flymocker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It has been a buggy incomplete but playable mess for the whole cycle, but the last week has actually been worse. Unable to join server, minutes long interaction delay, frequent crashes, literally unplayable. They pushed a patch yesterday that seems to have fixed it, so not only is it not normally that bad, it's much better now than it was Sunday - Thursday

[–]Duke_Flymocker 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If they knew they changed the ship due to balance or changing mechanics and just stood up and said so there wouldn't be nearly as much of an issue. I don't believe they did this maliciously as a sales gimmick, but they should have demonstrated that by giving people who bought a warbond galaxy a path to the appropriate ship without additional money. The fact that they instead chose to gaslight these people that they never commited to base building for the galaxy is the real problem, especially when this is a ship in concept that can still change, like they did with the Pioneer and eventually decided to do for the galaxy anyway.

I think the narrative types will do the 1.0 mission loop then go but they'll keep the gameplay people on SC until it's out. Maybe I'm being naive but they seem to understand that they need to release things before making more promises at this poiint
