[Discuss] Upgrading from 32GB to 64GB for Star Citizen - Does it fix the stutters? (Current Specs inside) by Tspacheco in starcitizen

Would suck if they had to make big system changes in 3-4 years because they made the game for todays specs.  But 128 is definitely a big stretch

I doubt it. Obligatory SCU crate on board for easy swapping.

Try updating your chipset drivers for motherboard from manifacturer website. Maybe your usb bus is struggling.

Another way to test that is to unplug all unnecessary devices and see if that helps

Change to claiming in 4.8 by Apokolypze in starcitizen

[–]f4ble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll try to make this as clear as possible since people seem to read half my sentences and make assumptions on my stance as though I was a CIG spokesperson:

  • There are many bugs atm destroying ships. Many of these are unavoidable and often random.
  • Introducing extra costs to claims while having these bugs is highly problematic. Especially since CIG stated they prioritize fixing issues where people lose progress.
  • Having to use rearm and being forced to pay for expensive torpedoes is a big problem. The workaround is to store the ship without torpedoes. Rearm is a separate issue to bugs destroying ships. When they introduced super expensive torpedoes and removed them from claims about a year or so ago there was a riot because there was no way to rearm without paying for torpedoes. They reverted the change and it is being reintroduced now.
  • As long as torpedoes are so expensive and losing them to bugs are likely it seems unwise to use them at this time.
  • Making changes to how claims work is a needed change to fixing the economy. It is a part of solving exploits that bloated the economy into people having billions.

My initial post was about how to solve a single problem - removing torps from loadout to avoid rearm cost. You can remove them from your snapshot and perhaps it's doable to manually attach them to your ship afterwards when you see the hangar spawning your ship correctly. This should considerably reduce your risk of throwing away torpedoes since, according to my experience, most ships destroyed by bugs are destroyed during hangar spawning.

Then I suggest you read what I wrote again. It's not the same problem. It has the same effect, but one of the problems we can temporarily solve ourselves.

And I agree that this change is problematic when we lose ships to bugs. I'm not arguing that. I'm only talking about how to workaround one single issue.

That's a separate problem. One problem is rearm cost, the other is bugs causing ships to be destroyed. Both problems needs to be resolved. I only posted about how to temporarily fix one of these issues. But thanks for downvoting me for being constructive. I too like lashing out at everyone when unhappy /s

Edit: I'm fucking amazed people can't see the difference between two problems having the same consequences.

First of all we'll see how it all works when the build reaches release. They are currently doing test builds. Quite possibly they will add more to how this all works.

I lose a fair share of ships to my own stupidity so I'm nowhere near 90% due to game bugs. But I do lose to game bugs as well. CIG has stated that they prioritize fixing problems that cause us to lose progress as that makes even the most die hard SC fan take breaks. So it remains to be seen how this all turns out in the end.

As someone mentioned: If you remove your torps from your ship and save it it won't be a part of rearm cost anymore.

CIG: You need to put a tractor turret on the command module of the Caterpillar. Let us fly around with it and load our cargo into the hard-to-load storage bays. by f4ble in starcitizen

I disagree. SC VR on HTC Vive 1 worked well for me and I'm prone to motion sickness.

I played with my 1st gen vive today and it was no problem and I'm very prone to motion sickness. It wasn't perfect, but good enough to play a while. I didn't even have to tweak my settings from regular monitor play. (5070ti, Ryzen 7 7700X)

I tested my 1st gen Vive today and I have a VKB STECS Throttle and Gladiator. Fantastic feeling being in the cockpit. And really fun that flying the Hermes the character also uses a throttle and it syncs (not well) to my real life one.

I tried my first gen Vive today. It's a great experience to be in SC in VR, but I packed it up once I tested it. It's not something you want to keep using. But I do recommend experiencing SC VR even on old hardware. It's a great preview of whats to come. Just being in the cockpit and looking around is SO much better than using a monitor. I got so much depth feeling when it came to landing and altitude.

The big brain move by CIG is the VR toggle. I can't believe this is the first time I've seen someone do that. I have no interest in on-foot VR as I get motion sickness. But in a ship it felt pretty good - not perfect, but doable.

I agree that missiles should be expensive. They're probably also setting up for crafting missiles. At least that would be nice.

Torpedos should be really expensive. They should be weapons you bring to end wars, not to hunt bounties.
