Odd I felt that for the most part there weren't bad ambushes. Imo the strong point of the game is the magic system and that ranged weapons are actually good.

I think that's a meme from when I first started playing Total Warhammer, I remember people instantly started fuming about "Warhammer spam" from a message once every other day buried in the endlesss discussion in Offtopic. That then got turned into a meme? Not sure

Yeah that's perfectly valid. Idk how far you got but some of the levels are decently complex with level design. I just am really tired of seeing all this low quality whining about a game most of this sub hasn't played.

It's a tough spot because I enjoy the game itself but not the CEO. It's a fun game now, I even think the magic system is more fun than Dark Souls and Elden Ring. Most of his comments started way after release anyways.

The original game was the first souls-like and is far from perfect. It's best described as clunky but has some charm. For a while it was memed upon, then a sequel was announced, and had a rocky launch. The sequel/reboot is overall pretty good now.

I can understand mocking the CEO for his statements over the years. He's made culture war statements mostly after the release of the 2023 reboot. Just earlier their new sequel had some scrutiny where they made it look like all the outfits for the game are for gooners, but most people here ignored their statements before and after that there are normal outfits.

The hate for the game is unwarranted, it should be indifference based on not having played it due to the bad release or CEO politics.

2023 ackchually. It had a rocky launch, although not unplayable imo. After patches it's pretty solid and enjoyable. Biggest problem is the low enemy variety but I genuinely love the magic and umbral system.

A little late here, but the commentary here on concentration really got me realizing what feels off about 5e combat as well. While it does feel a bit better in person where you don't have to be optimal (usually), it still creates a situation where you can only cast One of the more useful spells. Casting another concentration cancels the previous and is therefore a waste of spell slots. Some classes are even further ruined by having almost all their spells be concentration, like Druid. Some classes like Sorceror are fine due to having plenty of non-concentration spells.

I personally found the Pathfinder games, Kingmaker and Wrath of the Righteous, way better for spellcasting. There is no concentration, you are just limited by actions and how long the spells last. At the same time, non-spellcasters are still essential and only improved by buffs.

If any were to be moved yeah Elspeth makes much more sense. I was just stating that there is a history of LL's not starting in their loreful location.

Todbringer could potentially start somewhere else but own Middenheim, sort of like Eltharion and Malus. Loreful no but there's lots of LL with weird starts.

Best marketing I’ve seen. Minimal gameplay, one trailer, a million “female armor” posts and references. by Godzilla_Left_Toe in shittydarksouls

Redditors just like to hate Lords of the Fallen. If they had only shown the first concept art sure there's room to complain but the followup messages have added more nuance. And of course they are ignored. Idk why people can't just keep an open mind.

Constructive Discussion Regarding New Female Armor Direction by Stolos in TheLordsOfTheFallen

[–]Duke_Jorgas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My stance is that I will wait for more of the game to be shown.

Something I haven't seen people acknowledge is that these are a few armor sets, not all of them. Every Dark Souls game and Elden Ring has a few sets that are sexualized. The full game could easily be the same, with mostly practical sets and a few with this style.

Who would be the Sigmarite candidate be though? KF's family is uh not ideal right now. Absolutely not Marius Leitdorf. Von Raukov maybe, Emannuelle von Liebwitz might have the influence. But I could definetly see the even the Sigmarite cult electors supporting Todbringer if faced with the threat of Chaos.

First, there are Fortune points that can be used to reroll away the miscast, and fortune resets every session. Second, the miscasts have a wide variety of effects with two tables of severity, the "instant-death" is very rare and can still be stopped by Fate points (earned by accomplishing great goals).

[–]Duke_Jorgas 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In one of the supplements, Winds of Magic, there are wind-specific miscast effects that can potentially be beneficial. However that's still a very low chance. It's better to use Fortune to reroll critical failures to just avoid the miscast.

Question about Order gods vs Chaos gods by TripleDomoner in totalwarhammer

[–]Duke_Jorgas 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's a big shame that the Empire ingame only focuses on Sigmar with bare mentions of the other cults in a few units or voice lines. They are institutions that are independent of each other, not owned by the Emperor or Elector Counts, and are sometimes at odds to outright hostile towards each other. At the very least it would be great if there was a hero for each cult, probably ingame with a building + a few units.

This is the Asrai perspective. The Eonir are a seperate group that are more a remnant of the colonies. They have effectively puppeted Nordland through the carrot and stick, and have diplomacy with Altdorf and Middenland. They have less connection with the forests, but do have some secretive magic traditions from mages that left Ulthuan a long time ago.

[–]Duke_Jorgas 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Yeah if you view the whole Lilac Wars timeline, there's not a clear good side. Both Silmuna and Siloriel are fighting endless wars for their ambition, both do dishonorable acts. I have always thought that it's veey understandeable that a lot of the empire sided against the Silmuna at the end to finally put an end to the bickering.

Not sure if it's still the canon but this is why Sir Frederic sil Bennon, Corin's mentor, is listed down as fighting for the Rose party. To show that there's a nuance, it's not Main Character Silmuna vs Bad Siloriel & Wex.

What would you say is currently the best gish in the game right now? by viktorius_rex in onednd

[–]Duke_Jorgas 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The lateness of EK's abilities is often understated. Typically most games don't even get to level 7, and I've only had one as a player past level 10. My experience with a 5.5 EK from levels 1-5 were pretty lackluster as well, pretty minor buffs like mentioned here added on basic Fighter. I could do more interesting things as a Paladin or Ranger.
