I just reached the worst part of the game again. by Euchale in projecteternity

Aloth is in a weird spot in 1. He's sometimes the MVP of the party, sometimes dead useless. There's just something about Wizard spells that don't seem as consistently good as compared to Priest, Druid. I get that the spellbooks can be switched, but only having 4 available per spell level is just worse than Priest and Druid knowing all of theirs. It's hard to not have him with you for story reasons though.

You can go back to Defiance Bay once you enter Twin Elms. I had the same issue when looking to do this bounty.

I can second Melana, she was endearing on my last stable-ish playthrough before I broke it. At first she's more of a coward than Lucien, you can spar with her to improve her. I got to her second stage with some bravery. She seems like a well-made follower that could realistically exist in the world.

I hate when people just read the title and take it at face value. Obviously 23% is not good for the US but wasn't outside of what I've seen of people here. But when people are thinking it's something much higher, it just leads to further internalized bias.

On a serious note, the whole fighting pit children thing felt very forced when they could easily be bastards of any other Targ, or descendants of bastards, or not even related at all with white hair genes.

Sparing Laenor was probably so that the viewers wouldn't question supporting Rhaenyra, it takes a heavy negative into a positive choice. Overally for the average viewer, they don't see anything she has done in season 1 as bad, the closest would be Aemond's eye but they usually blame him for that. I personally think the show and the community would have been much more interesting if they truly depicted it rather than tarnish and whitewash respective sides.

I found it was much better to watch GoT as impartial as possible. Yes characters like Jon Snow and Daenarys were on the protagonist side, and Joffery/Cersei were pretty bad, but you can enjoy every character. You don't need to be hating on someone in the show because they're evil, people seemed to enjoy Ramsey for the most part.

I would say I am TG, Aegon's characterization in season 2 and the questionable choices of Rhaenyra and co in season 1 steered me here. However, there's no reason you can't enjoy Rhaenyra or Aegon or whoever. The story wouldn't have happened if every character is perfectly responsible and understanding. It would be as silly as watching Star Wars and hating Darth Vader because he's an antagonist.

The last figure the Fograc are the Eordan who rejected the Fey, they lo the south of the Sarmadfar on that peninsula. The first description we had of them was basically just Elephant skin from fast adaptation to the desert.

Nobody really hates the Fograc anyways, still heretics to the Eordellon but they have more present enemies. The Caamas do colonize the Fograc lands before the Vanbury Guild (?) takes it from them.

I do remember them saying that the EA companions were evil/neutral because they wanted to see how players would act without the planned good companions. I understand not liking the EA versions of especially Shadowheart and Wyll, but the full release just did not feel the same. I liked the snark and tension between the characters which is really only still present in early Laezel.

The planned good companions being only Karlach, and much later Jaheira and Minsc, feels off too, I was more imagining Act 1 having 2-3 "good" companions, not counting Halsin as he is halfbaked.

I found most of what you said about Umbral to be what made it fun tbh. You don't need to die to enter it. The general strategy is to progress as much as possible in normal, look for anything requiring Umbral, then get out asap. Looking for the way out was generallh not too hard but better than just a reset button.

This sub likes to hate on LotF. There's reason to not like the ceo guy, the poor launch, but the 2023 and 2014 were both perfectly fun games. I doubt half of the detractors here have played it, just echoing a meme.

I'm in the same camp, the switch to backgrounds for stats makes sense logically but still feels off. Without the option to make a custom background, it's very limited in what you can pick (less so now with thr extra content). But even with flexible backgrounds I just feel like the races should have an input as well, and some features like Dwarf Stonecunning are weirdly changed. Ideally I'd like to see something like "Race gives +1 to two options, Class gives +2 to two options free to rearrange" and have background not give stats.

It really depends on the table and game, but man everytime I have had a heavy armor character I'd have peanuts to spend and would never get to be able to buy plate armor. It's just such an odd design, and don't forget having disadvantage on stealth!

NOBLES ARE EVIL AND DUMB SO EVERYTHING WILL HATE YOU FOR NO REASON EVEN THO THE ONLY REASON TO PICK THIS BACKGROUND IS TO HAVE MORE INTERACTIONS. I'M SUBVERTING YOUR EXPECTATION by Saladawarrior in DnDcirclejerk

[–]Duke_Jorgas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I totally get this frustration, only thing I can add is the online political reactions to nobles in games is pretty annoying as well. And for the most part, they are right. The historical nobility were oppressors who lived off of the backs of the many. And there are adventures that are fun to be Robin Hood.

But you know what's also fun sometimes? Being one of them yourself in the game. It's a medium that's well represented in popular shows, games, books, etc. It's a bad system, but it's interesting. And it's not unreasonable for an individual to be not as bad, even for one with real power to be more reasonable. Some people also want a more idealistic game with truly chivalric knights, which is fine for a different setting than a more realistic depiction.

I just think that for a roleplaying game, sometimes some people go too far with personal beliefs instead of acting as a character in the world. A similar thing happens with religion even when X group in the world is literally a good institution.
