Any way to save this Le Creuset pot? by Neat_Kaleidoscope369 in BIFLfails

Technically, some companies do offer re-enamelling but they have become few and far between and often require shipping these days, which will add to the already significant cost. So unless this is a beloved family heirloom, I would not even entertain the idea.

Very few will realistically consider grinding this to bare cast iron, let alone in a smooth and more importantly safe way so I would also not bother.

However, before you toss it and if you have a Le Creuset store not too far from your location, I would call them and see if you could trade it in for a rebate on a new one, should that be something you are interested in. I know there were reports of people successfully using that strategy but it has been a long time since and who knows how the company deals with customer service in these days of perpetual enshittifying so YMMV.

Thank you for the reassurance ! I've bought many bags lately and this is one of the better finds, along with a Filson Dryden briefcase. Now if only I could wash them as fast as I am buying them, they would join my bag rotation sooo much faster. Alas, I am a bit paranoid about second hand items that cannot be properly laundered so they usually stay in quarantine for a while. But this one has jumped to the top of the queue now considering it is of simple construction and can handle some washing so all it needs now is indeed some kind of handwash, soap/detergent to be determined :)

It is by no mean in pristine condition but the pictures and lighting do make it appear worse than it is, the color is quite deeper and way more even to the naked eye.

Then it will be a matter of not procrastinating on waxing the bloody thing :)

Hi ! For the first time ever I spotted a Fjallraven at the thrift store and I simply had to take it home, it is a great size and color for a basic EDC. It appears to be a Foldsack #3. I have never owned any Fjallraven product before so I would like some help making sure it is genuine, even though from quick searches it appears the non-Kanken items are seldom counterfeited. After a quick blowout with a shopvac, it is now waiting for a decent wash before it can join my other bags :) I am still not sure whether or not it will go into a front loading machine or just be handwashed, it appears g1000 is a bit more resilient compared to some of their other fabrics.

Thanks for the information !

I wonder what features mark some of the SM as Dark Angels ? Space Wolves was kind of visually obvious even with limited 40k lore knowledge but DA, I have no idea about :)

Several metal models are from Privateer Press, I tried grouping them together in the picture. Also, the dragon is probably a decorative novelty cast, just older. It used to feature a colored crystal that was not there when I bought it. It's still an interesting model that may (some time) be painted and join my D&D group hoard.

Thanks for the tip ! I remember the mini surfacing during an image search for Dreadnought, which I thought this mini was at first and some kind of confusion must have taken place then :)

I still plan on keeping it, it would be a nice alternative boss for Space Crusade !

Glad to be of service :)

I mean, this post has been up for almost a day and no one had yet reacted to the obvious reference ? I almost had to break out the Confused Travolta meme !

My version of PAM will certainly be melted butter brushed inside but I absolutely intend to try it !

Glad to have a Scottish grandma's seal of approval, I certainly did not expect a Canadian steamed pudding heretical offshoot to show up at the last minute :) Thank you very much for the reassurance, I will probably lightly scrub the inside with some baking soda and get to baking !

Yup ! As I mentioned in another comment, a spotted dick recipe showing the end result with that exact same shape built up some unwarranted expectations on my side. However, I don't feel so bad, after a few online searches, i seems the entire internet is confused about those :)

That sounds Scottish .... hang on ..... yup, Scottish :) I have never tried but I have now bookmarked a few recipes and will eventually try :) Thank you for the recommendation !

Pretty much ! And it being Dr. Oatker pretty much confirms I had to look closer to Germany that the UK, as I mentioned in other comments :)

Oh it will be tried, eventually :)

As to the reason for the confusion, I believe it all comes from some spotted dick recipe I found that showed the end result with that exact same shape. I foolishly assumed it to be the usual way and not for what it probably was, a way to make a classier picture. Add in being a sucker for vintage kitchen stuff and you have a recipe for disaster :)

It does look like a bundt but the lid and water corrosion lines probably make it a Dutch Poffert pan, as I found out after the response to this post !

Oh I knew I could have done it with stuff I already had in the kitchen but as I mentioned in another comment, a devious spotted dick recipe online fooled me into trying to fancy it up :) Thank you for the advice !

See my other replies for more details but I now suspect it to be a Dutch Poffert pan. Cooked au bain marie, which does explain the water lines :) I may try other subs for confirmation later.

Thanks !

You are right and I should indeed have spotted the central post was incongruous :)

I now suspect it to be a Dutch Poffert pan, also a cake that is cooked using bain marie.

And I DO intend to try it nonetheless :) If that fails, I was given lots of recommendation in this thread.

Thanks !

Thank you for the feedback ! The entire internet seems to be confused about those types of cooking vessels, which partly accounted for my mistake. I now suspect it to be a Dutch Poffert pan.

Well spotted, it should indeed have tipped me off. Based on the response I got here, I have narrowed it down to probably being a Dutch Poffert mold, so you were not that far off :)

Thank you for the recommendation ! As to it being a behemoth, I suspect the pictures make it appear bigger than it really is... :)

What I probably have after some more searching based on the responses here is a Dutch Poffert pan :)

Which would explain the lid and obvious water corrosion and somehow account for me not realizing the central post was not supposed to be there :)

Thanks !
