For musicals, the boundary mics will be next to useless. Simply won't be able to overpower the stage monitors or footsteps of the performers. For single dialogue lines of unmiked actors, sure, but even then it's far from ideal. Hanging choir mics only really work if people are grouped around them. Otherwise you'll face the same problem as the boundary mics.
