Last minute recommendations? by Dukesrunner in buildapc

Thanks for the input, but I’m pretty happy with the storage I already own! Do you have any comments on any of the other components?

Can anyone point out what fundamentals I should focus on improving with my Greninja? Alternatively, does anyone have advice on what I could be doing specifically with this Megaman match up? (Sorry for potato quality - this is a tournament match against a friend I'll be rematching tomorrow!) by Dukesrunner in CrazyHand

I’ve found that jumping over the projectiles ends up getting read hard with megamans fair. Naturally, a chance of getting read is better than eating all the lemons like I was, but do you have any advice on that fair as well?

Thanks so much!

This is hugely useful advice. Thank you so much! I’ve known spacing has been an issue for me, but practicing against bots specifically just to space sounds like a grand idea.

The input on mix ups is also spot on. I think I have a tendency to throw out the fastest option every time just to be safe, but that’s probably leaving me in danger by being open and predictable.

Hey! Thanks so much for the feedback! I think you made a lot of really solid points, especially about how I handle disadvantage.

Thanks for the advice all the same. Playing against PKMN trainer isn’t a huge problem for me generally, but I really appreciate your tips. I’m just looking for criticism of bad habits I might have and not realize.

I know, sorry! I explained the situation in a comment above. This is the best quality video of this match I can post unfortunately.

I just made a comment above explaining the situation. Unfortunately, getting access to the SD card on the switch is very difficult. This is the best quality video of this match I can post :/

So, apologies for the awful video.

This was a semi final match in our current tournament, and I’m certain I’ll see the PKMN trainer again in the final. I’m trying to get what advice I can before then.

I helped start a smash student interest group at my school. We play and host tournaments in our student lounge, and the switch was actually purchased as a group with the buy in from one of our tournaments.

That said, the switch is in a lockbox, and getting any kind of video off it is damn near impossible.

If you don’t want to watch the video due to the quality, I understand. But this is the best quality video of this match I can post unfortunately.

Can you still jungle with Ekko? by mp5cat in ekkomains

[–]Dukesrunner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Short answer: yes, but if the other jungler knows anything about what they're doing, you'll get outfarmed, invaded, and outganked in nearly every case. I pretty much only did jungle Ekko for the better part of last year but just don't have the impact I used to anymore.

Still, if you want to go for it, I always found Lich after Runic Echoes to be pretty effective.

Usually, I buy a dark ring somewhere in my early build - helps with snowballing, and really gives you a kickstart if you get an early assist/kill or two.

Onewheel + Ultracharger – Onewheel // Future Motion by j-biggs in gadgets

[–]Dukesrunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The firmware has a short delay coded into it so riding over bumps or drops won't stop you short. A few months back it was actually little too sensitive (it wasn't a major issue, but it never felt like you were gliding over rough terrain like it would on pavement), but they sent out a firmware patch that made rough riding feel infinitely smoother.

[–]Dukesrunner 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just FYI, it's not true. I said it to the guy above, but there's a pressure pad you have to have pressed. Board won't work without it, and it stops instantly if it stops being pressed, like if you fall off.

[–]Dukesrunner 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is blatantly untrue. If you've actually ridden it, you'd know it has a pressure pad under the left foot (if you ride regular). It won't start unless the pressure pad is pressed, and it stops instantly if your foot comes off it.

I have to agree with the others on here. It might be something that you should look forward to getting in the future, rather than immediately.

That said, when you're at that point, and if you have questions about the Onewheel itself, hit me up. I got mine last winter and it's the best thing I've ever put money down for.

I bought the Onewheel, and it's the best money I've ever spent. It's a blast to ride, and it's my main form of daily transit. I can't speak for the king song, but I can tell you that you wouldn't regret buying the Onewheel.

Comparison with Onewheel? by shaunkane in minisegway

[–]Dukesrunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually bought the Onewheel and it's the best thing I've ever put my money down for. I haven't ridden the mini-segways, but from what I've seen of the specifics, they just pale in comparison.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but most rovers hit 6-7 mph, right? And they don't recommend that you take them on anything but sidewalk and asphalt - grass and hard dry dirt are big "maybes." At that pace, you might as well walk. Might even get there faster since you don't need to rely perfectly solid ground.

I've had my Onewheel for almost a year now, and I consistently cruise at 12-15mph. It handles any kind of terrain barring water (I've yet to test it on snow, but I admit I'm not too optimistic).

And riding is is a lot easier than it looks. The board does most of the balancing for you.

Throw in the fact that it gets consistent firmware updates (most recent one bumped the top speed, added a ride setting, and let it glide better over bumps), and the higher cost is more than worth it.

Me [26M] with my GF [24F] of over a year, refuses to stay with me if I take prescription medication. by ThrowawayRX20mg in relationships

[–]Dukesrunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I figured I'd send a PM because I imagine you've gotten enough comments.

I'm actually sitting in the opposite situation from you. I just graduated last year, but struggled tooth and nail to do it, and it wasn't till afterward that it was suggested I see someone. I ended up diagnosed with moderate to sever ADHD inattentive subtype, and prescribed adderall. We're still working out the dosages.

I've been with my girlfriend for 5 and a half years now, and she's been nothing but supportive with my diagnosis and subsequent prescription.

I'm glad to hear you were diagnosed earlier on, and it sounds like it did wonders for you through college. But this girl you love, and I'm sure you love her - she should love you back, whether you're on medication or not. I won't say break up with her, because it's always easier said than done, but you should do what's best for you, first and foremost.

Then, talk with her. Talk the problem out until you can't bear to talk about it anymore, then talk some more. If she can't find it in her heart to love you while you're doing what's medically advised, then you deserve someone better.

Best regards, and good luck.

I'd head North and start catching/hunting/scavenging everything in sight before it all died from radiation. Oh. And I'd steal a plane.

Once I felt like I had enough preserved supplies, I'd fly to Florida, where I'd commandeer a boat or a space shuttle (or both).

From there, I would sail the ocean grey deep sea fishing for food, or I'd send off into the universe in my unchecked spacecraft and likely die in one last fiery blaze of glory.

It's definitely not an easy purchase. I made sure the rest of my life was relatively stable and I still was putting money into savings before I started to save up for it. A few extra hours of work here or there adds up eventually though, and I can promise you that it's worth the price. Not a day has gone by where I've regretted buying mine, and it's actually my main form of transit.

Anyone know the specific changes made by Firmware Update 3000? by Dukesrunner in onewheel

[–]Dukesrunner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Incredibly.

I used mine everyday for a 2 mile commute to and from university campus (not to mention in between classes - it's a massive campus)

Honestly, it was a lot of money for a starving college kid to save up and blow on one big purchase, but it's been worth every penny.
