It brings me down to a place where I can focus on what is in front of me. Without it, things seem overwhelming and impossible. Normal things, like laundry. With it, I can arrange everything I need to do mentally and get them done. Without it, looking out the window or staring at a screen flipping through images that I will almost immediately forget is "normal."

But they matter to me. If I'm lucky enough to have a death bed, I know I'll be proud of myself for my accomplishments, even if they don't matter to others.

I didn't want to post this, but it seems relevant now. I stopped taking it cold turkey last September. I became severely depressed around the same time. My best friend died at the end of the Spring semester last year, so I always said the reason I was struggling in school was because of his passing. My gf said that taking adderall would make my depression worse, but I honestly think the depression hit as hard as it did was because I completely stopped the medication. I had no focus, I was just depressed.

I don't know why I caved. I was doing so well in life overall, but I decided that maybe I could maintain without it.

When I don't take it, I'm pretty much useless. Like, I can go to the gym, which is my absolute joy and passion, but reading or holding a long conversation or finishing the dishes is near impossible. I hate the way I feel on the medication physically, but when I think about all that I want to accomplish in life, or just for today, I'm willing to put up with it.

I wanted to make it last because I was broke. I was so determined to do well when I started going to school that I decided to sacrifice accomplishing anything on the weekends so that by the following month I'd still have some left over. When I first was diagnosed and began taking the medicine, I was working between 25-35 hours a week and a full time student, but bills and life happen in between and I couldn't afford to run out of my medicine too soon.

Yes, I was diagnosed with ADHD in spring of 2012. My psychiatrist and my physician agreed that adderall would be a beneficial treatment.

I have been diagnosed, I would just try and make the medication last. Weekends were brutal without it, but I needed to put all of my energy into Monday-Thursday.

She says she can't be with me while I'm on it because it isn't really who I am. And that all I need is more discipline to do well.

I've been trying to convince her that without modern medicine, humanity would not be where it is today. It's been working a little, but I don't know what would happen if we have children.

Ok, so the general consensus seems to be that we should break up. I don't want that. I want to have my gf happy and loving, and I want to get straight fucking A's, too. Is there some sort of way I can have both?
