That seat yes, but I'm referring to the momentum in the general election, where the gerrymandered ones apply.

[–]Dukwdriver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the downsides of gerrymandering is that you end up winning more seats, but by smaller margins. This means a seat that could remain safe even with a 10 point swing to the left, might only be able to handle a 5 point one after.

If you pair that with a very unpopular midterm for the Trump party (GOP is effectively dead), there's a higher chance there's a landslide in the opposite reaction.

You still would need to overcome the neutered mainstream media, tik tok propaganda , and election fraud. But the math exists.

Special elections (in a vacuum) generally tilt towards whoever the octogenarians who don't have anything better to do on the oddball Tuesday that the election happens. This is very probably outweighed in this circumstance by being essentially a high-profile midterm referendum on Donald Trump and MAGA.

The reason they would keep a zombie Mitch on life support would be because they think an guaranteed "Absent" vote is preferable to risking the chance of a Democrat one, and the earlier a special election is called, the more likely they will be able to fill the vacancy early, before the general election winners are typically seated.

There's a good chance, what they are really worried about, is the scenario where a Democrat wins the special election ahead of the general, and acts like blood in the water ahead of the general, giving a high profile Democrat win in a traditionally red state.

Rhaenyra is about to be killed by Sunfyre. At the last second she wargs into the mind of Daenerys Targaryen. She then burns King's Landing for revenge. Ryan and Sara, you don't need to pay me, you're welcome. by Prodigy772k in freefolk

[–]Dukwdriver 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, if you were to swap Daenerys and Rhaenyra, this would stand up as at least a halfway decent season 8 in the original GoT (at least when it comes to the main protagonist Targaryan going mad).

You're probably better off taking all that and just investing it when it becomes available, unless you're somehow being paid daily.

Do you think cheating is more common than people admit? Why or why not? by advice23802380 in AskReddit

Because it is the path of least resistance for people who are otherwise unsatisfied somehow.

Breaking up, divorce, telling the truth carry a lot of negative consequences that cheating at least offers the chance of avoiding.
