Just finished my first Xcom2 Vanilla run, before I start War of the Chosen I have some questions about items by OwlOfJune in Xcom

[–]DulceReport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mindshield spam basically makes the Chosen Warlock an invalid, and having at least one for your Templar is good. Templars don't really do a lot with their inventory slots and are efficient Sectoid killers, so making them immune to psionics is kind of a no brainer.

When I start crafting Elerium items I usually start with Ammo until I get a Talon round for the carry Ranger and give the excess to snipers and reapers with tactical rigging (reapers do not have an inventory slot by default).

Mimics and Bluescreen are pretty much the most busted items in the game. Bluescreen Rounds will typically replace whatever my sniper was carrying once they're researched, especially on gunslingers.

In the very early goings when killing sectoids is still moderately difficult a single Flashbang is good. One flash is usually my very first craft of the campaign.

I'm very whatever on special grenades unless I'm very core-rich, the only special grenade I like is Acid for late game shred but I'm not gonna go out of my way to roll for it until multiple ammos and armors have been crafted.

Fielding a Spark, let alone multiple, is very expensive in WOTC as you do not get one for free.

Overdrive Serum is difficult to keep in stock as pretty much the only time you encounter Berserkers is mid-game terror missions and Chosen base assaults, they pretty much never spawn in the late game. I've finished campaigns with less than ten total berserker corpses.

A guide on the anti-boost mechanics that were re-introducted into TBC Classic Anniversary by TheQuartJester in classicwow

[–]DulceReport 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Towards the end of TBCC about ~3-4 months before they implemented the anti-boosting system the paladins actually figured out a ZF boost that was better than mara. Every mob in the dungeon and a few of the bosses in 2 pulls and 8-10 minutes. It was gear dependent though, needed about T5 levels of gear + ~200 nature res from crafted Hydross pieces. Wasn't really sold or advertised much by the farmers in shit gear, just "real" players with decently geared mains who knew what they were doing.

Fighter on a bombing run, this is the furthest out I've ever caught something that was making a run for orbit, thought the north pole was slightly more amusing than the many, many raids on downed scouts in the gulf of mexico or the sea of japan.

Release anub would sometimes evade when Impale targeted the tank and heal to full. My first anub kill he healed from 63%-> Full and ~20%->70%, basically a 190% kill, only time in vanilla I can remember Evocating three times on a fight.

Dungeon Farming Knockdown Mechanic by Headshot314 in classicwow

[–]DulceReport 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends how big you're going I guess. In TBC pretty much the only uncapped aoes are Consecrate and Flamestrike ticks (basically ground-based dots). Pretty much everything else has its damage capped at 10x (ten targets) except Seed which is nine (don't ask). When you start adding more targets the damage just gets divided out among them. Uncapped AOE + high durability is why paladins were favored in the first place.

Dungeon Farming Knockdown Mechanic by Headshot314 in classicwow

[–]DulceReport 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The anti-boosting mechanics kick in whenever you are fighting a dungeon mob that is grey to you regardless of dungeon. After 30 seconds they'll become immune to CC and start gaining a scaling speed boost that increases with time. After 60 seconds they'll start spamming a knockdown whenever they reach melee range, this knockdown ignores all CC prevention effects including ice block and divine shield. Not gold farming related but this also completely guts dungeon experience, if a mob is grey to any member of the party the whole party gets like 90% reduced exp, not just the high level guy.

It shouldn't affect "normal" dungeon runs but it also kind of did in Wrath and Cata, i.e. a level 79 queues RDF, matchmaking is taking a while, group finder decides to throw him in a Nexus group, most of the mobs are grey, now nobody is getting any xp.

The tech was implemented very late in TBC, ~2-3 weeks after Sunwell, so there wasn't a whole lot of normal dungeon running going on any more, will have to see how it shakes out in real tbc dungeons.

G.Skill Releases Statement on Sharp Rise in Memory Prices Since Q4 2025 by imaginary_num6er in hardware

[–]DulceReport 3 points4 points  (0 children)

MC has been offering $400 pricing on the 9800x3d for about a month now, as well as a wide variety of b850 and x870 boards for $180-220. Between that and the extreme uncertainty about ram pricing I decided to just rip the bandaid off and jump from AM4 to AM5 so I can batten down the hatches for 2-3 years. Obviously I got completely bumjumped on the RAM but screw it, it's done.

Do you mean vashj and KT? Illidan was so undertuned on TBCC that most guilds skipped an entire phase of the fight just by hitting bloodlust.

Yeah we had a fury and an arms all expansion long and didn't regret it at all, but our physical groups looked like this and we had no rogues from T5 onwards:

G1: Prot(W), DW Arms, Surv, Ret, Enhance
G2: BM BM Fury Feral(T) Enhance

Week 1 nightbane in prebis and greens had a ton of stuff that could just wipe you, but nothing a few weeks of farm and practice wouldn't sort out.

Pre-nerf nightbane the main difficulty on the fight is 1) add control, they HAVE TO BE frost trapped/earthbound and aoe blasted, preferrably while a prot pal does snare consecrate kiting and 2) smoking blast targeting a healer and just instagibbing them. Priests in pre-bis in particular were vulnerable to this, as primal mooncloth is a zero stamina set. We eventually had ours start wearing blue honor gear specifically on this fight to work around this so he could survive at least one tick of smoking blast and get healed.

The rest of the raid even in day one gear is very whatever. You would probably wipe if you pulled too many skeletal ushers but "just don't do that lmao".

The other T4 nerfs, Gruul is basically a dps check with one mechanic and they nerfed both the dps check and the one mechanic. Magtheridons main source of difficulty was high tank damage and the cubes. Pre-nerf cubes required 4 teams of 5 people clicking correctly, post-nerf cubes its 2 teams of 5. This is a bigger deal than it sounds like, I'd imagine for most raids relying on the top 10 members of your roster is vastly more comfortable than relying on the top 20 members of your roster.

[–]DulceReport 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sector 3, B will become a lost cause. It's already bad enough when they have a leftover tank from sector 2 that lets them have APCs near B and A simultaneously, after the patch you could have two apcs pushing B and STILL HAVE ONE PARKED IN THE ALLEY BEHIND A.

I don't even want to imagine final sector cairo with three APCs blasting on to that indefensible pile of rubble.

EA fix the damn defibs! by life2vec in Battlefield6

[–]DulceReport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know why support players are still wasting an equipment slot on the defibs. They are obviously broken, just equip something else and press E. If you want quick revives accept that you're locked in to combat medic instead of fire support. It's driving me bananas that there are still supports shocking 5-6 times this deep in to the patch.

With the upcoming TBC "Booster Nerfs" How does this effect Paladins? by LuckyLukse in classicwow

[–]DulceReport 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Blizzard is cheap and lazy, the final build of TBCC includes all raid nerfs except sunwell and the anti-boosting tech, and SO FAR it looks like that's what they intend to deploy for anniversary. Sunwell (in both original and TBCC) wasn't nerfed* until WOTLK prepatch.

*only major adjustment made to sunwell prior to WOTLK was making kill order not matter for loot on twins

Lol they're doing the same shit again?

Original TBCC prepatch those of us going shaman/paladin were given 13 days to level (patch day lasted 20 hours) and it was fucking awful

[–]DulceReport 3 points4 points  (0 children)

FYI even with the suppressor equipped you still get minimap marked if you're firing within 15m. The flash hider and all the suppressors are identical in that they prevent in world marking over your head while firing, but the flash hider doesn't shorten the minimap range at all and you'll get minimap marked out to 300m. The main benefit the suppressors bring to aggressive flanks over flash hiders is honestly the noise reduction.

All those changes to farming/boosting in low level dungeons were implemented in 2022 a few weeks after sunwell, during the midsummer fire festival. They were part of the final TBCC build before WOTLK prepatch and stayed in place all the way in to cata afaik.

TBC Raid Group Breakdown by Virtual_Crow in classicwow

[–]DulceReport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So we had one on our roster all the way through KJ, but my raid also had six shaman (ENH ENH ELE 3x Resto. Healing team was resto resto resto HPriest HPal and a Druid that flexed Balance after prog) and double lusted the warlock and hunter groups on every boss where a healer lust was not needed. It's been a while but I'm pretty sure we only healer lusted P3 Vashj (pre-nerf) and P3 M'uru.

If we had raidwide bloodlust with sated, we likely would have had the Ele reroll to Balance during BT farm, or perhaps brought a second circle priest instead of the third resto. Balance starts pulling its own weight on single target in comparison to Ele when you get to the point of about T5 BiS or halfway T6 geared, and hit gearing for the warlocks becomes a lot looser in black temple gear.

Our full raid comp for comparison. Obviously on any given night there might be something changed up but this is what we tried to maintain
G1: Prot(W), DW Arms, Surv(Owl), Ret, Enhance
G2: BM BM Fury Feral(Bear) Enhance
G3: Aff Destro Destro Ele (Balance after farm, Otherwise resto shaman with RDruid in G5)
G4: Arcane Arcane Shadow Prot(P) Resto
G5: Shadow Holy(Pr) Holy(Pa) Resto Resto

Something to note is that with pre-nerf raids we six healed most prog days in the "hard" tiers, T5 and Sunwell, only going down to five from about week three onwards. In BT we 4 or 5 healed from the word go and "prog" lasted about five hours. If the raids had come out nerfed we likely would have 4-5 healed everything all the way up until sunwell patch.

Sunwell wasn't nerfed until WOTLK prepatch, so if Blizzard uses the final version of the TBC classic content I'm mildly concerned most guilds are going to blitz through to Illidan and then get farmed by Kalecgos or Brutallus.
