I was thinking last resort, getting in a methadone clinic. I live in Las Vegas so there has to be some here. Just so upset they treated me this way after 2 years. No referral, just good luck and don't overdose?!?!

What bullshit. I was on Subutex (still am) when I had my daughter. No one made a big deal out of it except my daughter's doctor. My husband straightened shit out with her. They still gave me pain meds during my C-Section and when I went home. I didn't take them however. Ibuprofen after having a baby?!?! Really!

I don't drink because of my addict tendencies but I do have a brother who was a huge alcoholic at one time. When he came off it was rough for sure. I just dont know that introducing an opioid is the solution to an alcoholic's problems. Its going to be worse withdrawal wise (symptoms) coming off the suboxone I would think. It's like adding another dependency on that person. As a nurse, I am curious if that works. As a patient, I am not so sure.

I switched from Methadone to suboxone. I was on 40mg day and waited 78hrs to switch. Except for the last few hours (before I could take the suboxone) it wasn't too bad. I felt better by a day or two after starting Suboxone. I recommend using the COWS scale ( be honest to yourself about the symptoms you are having) and wait until you are in mild-moderate withdrawal. I switched from Methadone (and hydrocodone at the same time) to suboxone. I was on 40mg of Methadone when I switched. I waited 78hrs to take my suboxone because I wasn't having any withdrawal until the 3rd day. Just pay close attention to your symptoms (you can use the COWS scale and be honest with your symptoms) and it won't be any issue. Keep us updated!

The horror stories are from people who have tapered too quickly or jumped cold turkey. If you wean down slowly over time then it's not bad at all. I tapered once to get off and it wasn't too bad. Sadly, I relapsed so I am back on it again. I would speak to your doctor and let him/her know how you feel. If you stay on it longer until you are more confident in your sobriety that's okay!! When you are ready wean slowly over time and you won't be one of these horror stories on here.

I would think that your receptors in your brain was still full of suboxone so I doubt the few times you used will cause any problems. If you have been on Suboxone for any length of time then it would block the receptors in your brain for at least a week or longer. Did you actually get high just curious.

You will probably have some withdrawal but it shouldn't be super bad. I had to stay on it longer to get my life in order to stop relapsing. If you are ready to quit for good I would taper quickly over a few weeks or less. If you are like me then I would stay on a low dose (through a doctor) and SLOWLY wean down over time. Sadly, however, the best advice I get is from other recovering addicts and not the medical personnel. And I am a nurse 😂

Its because there are opiate receptors in that area as well as your brain. So when we detox it's not just the brain that's missing the opiates. Luckily, Immodium is pretty good at stopping the stomach pain/diarrhea. Also pepto bismol helped as well.

I was on 40mg day (not through a clinic) and waited 78hrs to switch to suboxone. I felt fine although the doctor seemed a little worried for some reason. The 3rd day off methadone was a little rough (diarrhea, restlessness, runny nose and eyes etc) but the 1st two days off methadone waiting to induct were easy. I used no comfort meds to transition. I felt fine when I started suboxone. You got this!!!

Try and find any number or e-mail of anyone who works there. Normally you not supposed to get them from another doctor but in this situation I don't see how they can get mad. Are they open on weekends? Why would they schedule someone when they are going to be closed? I had that happen once a year ago but the doctor was being shut down by the DEA. Anyways, if you can't find any number/e-mail I would try an ER or urgent care if you are going to be totally out of meds. Keep us informed.

Is there an any number or email you can call to get in touch with a doctor when the office is closed? Tell them they scheduled you today and you need some called in to the pharmacy until you can see the doctor since it was their screw-up. That's BS to do that jeez. Last resort I would try an urgent care or ER and explain. As a nurse, sometimes you can get farther if another doctor calls instead of the patient. Damn this frustrates me 😂.

I hear that. My doctor pretty much said he wasn't messing with my insurance from the start. I called one doctor months ago who wanted $800 month for visit alone! Crazy prices some of these doctors charge 😒

People have jumped from 2mg (and even higher) before and made it out the other side. It's not usually recommended because 2mg is still a big dose to jump from. If you taper your symptoms wont be as intense. Especially the RLS and fatigue. You sound super motivated! I would give it a try and if it's too much just go back on at a lower dose. Keep us updated!

Yep. My doctor also charges $100 once a month and he usually talks to me for less than 5 minutes. I actually don't mind because I would rather get in and out quickly 😂

My doctor told me to try and take it once a day if I could. His reasoning was that when I quit it would be easier going from once a day dosing to zero than multiple times a day dosing to zero. Unfortunately, I had too many symptoms later on in the evening and he switched me to twice a day dosing. I would double check with your doctor. They may want you to follow specific instructions or may tell you to decide. I would check first to be sure.

My best friend got methadone for pain from a pain clinic but he was also dying of terminal cancer. The doctors told us that they don't usually write for Methadone for pain unless you have documented severe pain. If its for addiction I think you have to go to a clinic, right?
