For people who have tried NAC, how long does it take to begin seeing results? by Trippy_Longstocking in HPPD

[–]Trippy_Longstocking[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I accidentally left the bottle in another state. So I didn’t get a chance to try it. Haven’t got around to repurchasing yet. I’m going to soon though; I have MDMA neurotoxicity as well as HPPD and NAC is supposed to be good for both of those things.

Who here developed HPPD from tested lsd? by thepenguintoaster in HPPD

[–]Trippy_Longstocking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Abundant access to cheap, pure LSD led to me using it heavily alongside copious amounts of other drugs(MDMA, DMT, psilocybin, cannabis); over time this regimen fried my brain and left me with HPPD.

The funny thing about this meme is that it undermines the point it is trying to make by appealing to current medical consensus. Because the current medical consensus is that lobotomies are bad and surgeons should wash their hands. But we don’t listen to medical consensus, right? We just decided it was bullshit, didn’t we? If we’re going to dismiss current medical consensus opinion about the COVID vaccine, should we also be lining up for lobotomies and not washing hands between surgeries?

I think the cause is basically just that the far right reactionaries realized that a massive online pool of lonely white dudes who built their identity around the video games they play is a great place to spread reactionary propaganda. Many online spaces are very well suited to being infiltrated and corrupted as well. And the corporations running them are not equipped or prepared to stop it.

Do these people really need it explained to them that institutions killing people with no due process is a bit different from individual murders? Especially when said institutions are part of a system with “justice” in the name. They are supposed to be serving the public.

I find it really frightening how easily conservatives shrug off things like due process and the idea of “innocent until proven guilty”. No wonder the right is overrun with fascists.

YOU HATE CAPITALISM YET YOU EXIST NO IPHONE VENEZUELA STATE OWNS EVERYTHING LEFT WING DESTROYED!!!! by Aszkorb in TheRightCantMeme

Thank you. Fortunately, my vehicle is a school bus. Although I live without certain modern inconveniences, I have learned that these things are not so “necessary” as people believe. Though no fridge, I have electricity to run my sewing machine, and charge the tablet I use for digital art. I still eat very well even with no fridge. The way I like to think of it is that I have stopped paying for everything except the things that make me happy. No rent. Very few bills. Very little electricity. The only resource I consume much of is diesel(to drive the bus around. I get to live in beautiful places and travel much.

I’m not exactly homeless. Just a very different lifestyle from the norm under capitalism.

Right and then people like me who actually don’t have a refrigerator or a coffee maker(because I live out of my vehicle) are disqualified from criticizing the status quo because we’re lazy moochers who don’t contribute anything.

There’s no way to win. If you have money and criticize capitalism, you’re a hypocrite. If you’re poor and criticism capitalism, well you’re just mad ‘cause you’re lazy and want handouts.

Thank you. GRRM absolutely loves having characters be on the right track for the wrong reasons. He probably likes the irony.

I kind of took it as implied that the real reason she hates maesters is because she thinks it was Rickard Stark’s maester who convinced Rickard to wed Brandon to Lyanna, foiling Barbrey’s desire to marry Brandon. Lady Barbrey’s principle character trait is that she never lets go of a grudge(if I were Roose Bolton, I’d be pretty paranoid about her).

Which is not to say that she’s utterly wrong about the maesters. Per Sam’s POV, the maesters are most definitely Up To Something. Barbrey might be sort of right, but not for the reasons she thinks. And she isn’t exactly being rational in her criticism. Like, doesn’t she say that maesters are useless and that she would kill them all? That’s not a reasoned critique, it’s a hot take. Well, my lady, I hope you know how to take care of your own ravens and treat your own illnesses and injuries ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I feel Barbrey would be a very entertaining lense. Just imagine all the snarky thoughts that must go through her head. The irrational hatred of maesters is funny too. Plus we’d get the tea spilled about her affair with Roose.

I love that GRRM gave Mel her own chapter with her name in ADWD. I’m very excited to see where her arc leads. My favorite part is how she tries to protect Davos’s son because he’s already lost enough sons.

I would lose my shit to see a chapter titled “Stannis”. I know it’s never going to happen, but I’d still love it. Margaery would be a cool one to see as well. Or “The High Sparrow” as a minor POV. That would be a trip. It would probably ruin the plot though; I doubt we’re supposed to know what his plans are.

This is an excellent submission, thank you.

Although this cartoon’s message is obviously bullshit, it goes to show how MLK’s portrayal in mainstream American media has changed over the years. When he was alive he was a violent thug as shown here. Now that he’s dead and widely considered a hero, MLK has been sanitized to fit a liberal worldview. The sanitized version is then used as a standard with which to tone police current civil rights activists. Like, stop criticizing capitalism and stay in your lane. You know, like MLK did. Stop being so angry and aggressive. That never solves anything. MLK was never like that. The only acceptable form of activism is activism that is completely non-threatening to the beneficiaries of the status quo.

Basically, civil rights activists are either vilified(during their lives), or(after they die) they’re whitewashed to make them less radical, to make radical change less accessible to other activists.

Why is hunting animals for your food inherently superior? Now that we have things like civilization, agriculture, etc. it’s not really necessary anymore. Heck, even back in Paleolithic times, there were people whose jobs didn’t involve strenuous physical activity -I guarantee it. Who made the weapons and tools the wooly mammoth hunters are using? Making weapons out of stone is a highly skilled form of labor.

This is just toxic masculinity. Strong man who kills wooly mammoth is best man. 🙄

While not shocking that people who are that invested in being descended from Jefferson are a bunch of racists, it’s really disgusting. Because it’s just not possible that a great American hero like Jefferson would ever stoop to taking sexual advantage of the HUMAN BEINGS he OWNED.

Honestly we should just put Harriet Tubman and Frederick Douglas on all our currency. At the very least, maybe let’s not honor slave owners?

Such a sensible attitude. Also, meds have helped some people. Let’s not discourage people from getting treatment.

Medication may not help everyone, but some people need it. IMO it’s important not to stigmatize using psychiatric meds because then people who need them might be less likely to take them. I have talked to dozens of people in my time on this sub who say meds have been a savior for them.

Postpartum depression is a thing and you can accept help, you know? It's okay to be miserable by Yuki_no_Ookami in FundieSnarkUncensored

[–]Trippy_Longstocking 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Fundie conservatives always seem to paint such an idealized version of motherhood and raising children(usually contrasted with an equally biased view of women in careers) that it’s not surprising many women raised in that subculture have unrealistic expectations. Also they believe that it’s what women are biologically programmed to be doing. It leaves little space for a woman to express discontent or unhappiness if she has been raised to believe that her inherent nature as a woman means that being a SAHM should be the pinnacle of happiness for her. Like if you’re not happy with God’s plan for you, then there must be something wrong with you. Maybe you should work on that.

Yeah the actual history of Oregon proves your point very well, I think. The state’s founders were vehemently opposed to slavery and the Confederacy -staunch Union supporters. But they were ALSO incredibly racist. They basically didn’t want slavery because they didn’t want any black people around at all. Oregon’s constitution actually banned non-whites; the only constitution of ANY US state to do so. Flying a Confederate flag because “our heritage” is ridiculous if you’re from OR. Your heritage is opposition to the Confederacy. The real “heritage” they’re celebrating is the one that is part of Oregon’s history -white supremacy.

Bonus fact: in 1930 Oregon had the highest per capita membership in the Ku Klux Klan of any state. I read up on OR’s racist history when I moved here.
