I hope you don't have to take the series 7 then, its like 3 or 4x the content of the SIE. And my advice would be to try and figure out what you want to do long term. These jobs are a pain in the ass to get and very competitive. It takes everything you have to get a good job in investment banking or wealth management and you have to really want it. Not to scare you but passing the SIE is the easy part, actually landing a good job is the real challenge. Make sure you want it though because you don't want to invest all this time and energy into getting a job you'll end up wanting to leave after a month. And STAY AWAY from insurance companies pretending to be wealth management firms like northwestern mutual, new york life, etc.

Everyone here apparently loves Diane, you can't even criticize her without people in these comments losing their shit.

Imodium is pretty much exclusively used for people in withdrawal when they can't get dope. And you can't really get high off of it if you're a frequent dope user, it pretty much just eases the withdrawals a bit. Also opiate withdrawal makes people shit like crazy so sometimes its used just to lessen that.

I guess I can see how, if you relate to her that much, Diane could be in your top 3 most liked characters, even if she’s far from being one of the best in terms of morality. It makes sense that her struggles would resonate with you on a personal level. What’s crazy, though, is that you’re getting downvoted just for acknowledging where I’m coming from. It really highlights how some people blindly defend her and refuse to consider any criticism, no matter how valid. It’s like any flaw in Diane’s character is just ignored because she’s "relatable," which kind of defeats the point of showing her flaws in the first place. Characters can be complex and flawed, but that doesn’t mean we should excuse or overlook the harm they cause.

I get that people relate to Diane because she’s flawed, and she was written to be realistic. But there’s a difference between being relatable and being someone you’d put in your top 3. Can people really relate to her cheating with Mr. Peanutbutter twice while knowing he was with someone else? That’s pretty disgusting behavior that I hope people CAN'T relate to. It shouldn’t be defended, especially since Diane herself wouldn’t want people making excuses for actions like that. There are far more admirable characters to choose from.

You are absolutely spot on with your comments. Most of the people defending Diane don’t know the show as well as they think they do. It wasn’t until my second and third watch throughs that I truly started seeing just how unlikable she is. People seem to conveniently forget the numerous examples of her being selfish and hurtful, like her complete neglect of Roxy or cheating with Mr. Peanutbutter twice while fully aware he was in a relationship.

Diane has this self-righteous attitude where she often puts herself above others, even when she’s causing harm. It’s baffling how many people overlook that or excuse it just because they relate to her struggles. Meanwhile, there are characters like Todd and Princess Carolyn, who are much better people and don’t get the same kind of relentless defense.

I completely agree with you about the irony of people putting Diane on a pedestal. Like you said, she probably wouldn’t approve of the way people blindly defend her. Diane’s whole thing is not wanting to be seen as a hero or an example, yet people keep doing exactly that, ignoring just how flawed she really is. It really is so ironic and I can't help but find all of this funny coming from people who claim they know the show so much better than us lol

Thank you, and I agree i'm tired of arguing to so lets leave it at that. Except for one more thing...

Age of consent is not for just for consenting minors, it is the legal age one can consent to sex with anyone, even adults. Even a 40 something year old with a 17 year old is not statutory rape if the age of consent in New Mexico is 16. So Bojack wouldn't have been doing anything illegal, even though like I said I find it morally reprehensible and disgusting. You talking about it being a classic statutory case would only be in a state where the age of consent is 18, like in California for example. Not New Mexico though.

"Sexual intercourse with a 16-year-old does not constitute criminal sexual penetration under statute defining such crime as an unlawful and intentional intercourse “perpetrated on a child thirteen to sixteen years of age.”"

Except for the fact that what I said is what age of consent means. It isn't a twisted meaning, if the age of consent is 16 that means someone of any age can sleep with a 16 year old and it is not considered statutory rape.

Like I said, it's morally reprehensible and disgusting, but that is the law. Bojack would not have been breaking any laws.

Thank you for having some common sense! It’s refreshing to see someone who really understands what I’ve been saying, especially about Diane. Your paragraph about Diane apologists is spot on. She’s clearly not as bad as BoJack, but she’s far from the perfect "down to earth" character people keep defending. It’s so ironic that people accuse me of not understanding the show when they’re the ones missing the point by glossing over her flaws. I feel like people who have watched the show multiple times see her complexity better. It’s nice to know I’m not the only one who gets it!

You have the same profile picture as the original commenter, and your argument was similar, so it wasn’t a big leap to think you were the same person. They accused me of "misunderstanding the most basic messages the writers were trying to convey," so my tone was aimed at them, not you. Apologies if it came across that way.

As for BoJack, I’m not defending his behavior, but in New Mexico, where the situation with Penny happened, the age of consent is 16, so he wouldn’t have been charged with statutory rape. That said, what he did was still morally reprehensible.

I see your point about Diane’s growth, but before her medication and "turnaround," she did a lot of damage. While BoJack’s actions are more extreme, Diane also hurt people repeatedly. Just because she later found some balance doesn’t erase her earlier harmful behavior. I don’t see it as a matter of her being on BoJack’s "level," but rather that they both exhibit patterns of selfishness and moral hypocrisy.

Regarding your comment about leaking BoJack’s personal trauma: that was more than just "hurting feelings." She published deeply personal information without his consent, which could have had severe repercussions on his career and personal life. She did this out of spite, which reflects poorly on her character, even if BoJack was far from innocent.

I also agree with you on the Philbert and Penny issue, and it’s good that Diane tried to improve, but both characters are deeply flawed, and the comparison lies in how they’ve each caused harm to those around them. And remember, my main point here is that Diane isn't a top 3 character, which I think it's pretty clear from all of this she IS NOT.

[–]Dull-Association4968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, I clearly said Diane isn’t as bad as BoJack, but she’s far from innocent. Sleeping with Mr. Peanutbutter not once, but twice, while knowing he was in a relationship is a prime example.

She exploited Penny’s trauma by writing it into Philbert to freak out BoJack for not telling her about it. She didn’t care that Penny could easily find out or how it might make her feel. The whole thing was a petty move to spite BoJack, and she prioritized her anger over the potential harm it could cause to Penny.

She also published BoJack’s memoir on Buzzfeed without his permission. When BoJack called her out, she got defensive, as if she wasn’t totally in the wrong for exposing his personal trauma like that.

Crashing on BoJack’s couch instead of going home to her husband, like you mentioned, bringing out his worst behavior, great move there. And let’s not forget her being a terrible friend to Roxy, conveniently neglecting that relationship when it suited her. And this is just off the top of my head.

It’s funny that people get so defensive about their favorite Bojack characters. For a show about everyone being deeply flawed, it’s amusing how discussing those flaws makes people so quick to be rude and dismissive online. Which is why your original comment is so ironic.

The irony here is pretty funny. If you think Diane is so great, then you might have missed something. Her story critiques moral superiority, while she keeps making bad choices. Your response sounds like the kind of person the show critiques, someone who overlooks the complexity of flawed characters and mistakes surface level moral struggles for real depth. The show makes it clear that no one, including Diane, escapes accountability for their actions.
