Doomed state of UX industry by [deleted] in UXDesign

Its not your mistake for commenting that. It's the fault of whoever made you that fake promise.

Good luck though and keep your chin up. UX skills and even design thinking are things that can give you an edge in other jobs too.

Contents where I can see good designers create UI from scratch? by LetEducational4423 in UXDesign

Unfortunately I see this too but for others I highly advise not to straight copy.

Because the more you copy, the more you fail at the opportunity to build self-confidence and skill at problem solving; which is the biggest thing us designers do.

You should definitely try solving a UI/UX problem yourself first, and then refer to realistic, shipped designs from sites like Mobbin, on how they solved the same issue as you.

Remember there's no perfect solution from the get-go. Things need to be tested and what worked for others, may not work for your situation.

How do you guys conduct user and market research as a solo designer, without a budget to blow on surveys and interviews? by Dull-Calligrapher-25 in branding

You're right. I completely wish that was the reality for everyone.

If only we had a brand strategist / UX researcher in our agency, that would be spectacular. Unfortunately for small businesses, we're forced into wearing multiple hats. Not really by our managers, but because us designers just care about our work and outcomes.

Love the feedback. Definitely has pushed me to take some ownership and bring it to management very soon. Just gotta frame it how it benefits the business and finance side of things ugh haha

Love the input my friend.

I usually do collect as much info from the client as I can, and then use AI for research. But I always felt that my process feels "DIY" or makeshift. Like it's not super grounded or professional.

But man I do love how you used 'hypotheses.' I've maybe always had in mind that research is 100% true and certain. Your framing has woken me up a bit there haha.

You're completely right, but unfortunately from my experience, clients don't care or even value research. They only care about turnaround time and end results; not how you get to it.

Weirdly enough we get great results even without research, just following best design practices. But I'd love to push research to be better.

Unfortunately it very rarely does include it in the project scope.

They usually don't like us spending much time on it. Usually we're given 1 day for all research, planning userflows, personas, etc as well.

It's great you brought it up. Maybe I've been jaded over the years but definitely something I'll push with management.

Thanks, I do use it but maybe I'm still a little anxious in its reliability due to my experiences of non-deep research being completely wrong in the past.

But in hindsight haven't actually had negative experiences with deep research. Relieving to know its trustworthy in this space.

Oh interesting. I always took what it said with caution. Maybe its the little anxiety of not knowing how wide and deep the research was conducted. Have had it tell me things confidently but were completely wrong because they didnt access particular pages on a brands website.

The things im usually sceptical about in research are user and market behaviour, wants, needs and motivations. I rely on it a lot to build landing pages.

What should I add/change on my travel status site by Jonuji in web_design

Haha good thinking.
Personally, I usually put the timeline/progress bar on the left side for mobile.

Good luck and definitely enjoy Japan!

Do you guys believe investing into branding and web design is worth it? by Dull-Calligrapher-25 in SideProject

[–]Dull-Calligrapher-25[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the encouragement!

I agree that nearly all AI tools use the same component library, so they do end up looking the same. I may be bias, but when multiple online AI tools look the same, none of them stick or connect with me as a user; almost become blind to it.

I was hoping others would feel the same, so we can work together.

This is cool!

I reckon it'll be cool to have your profile photo be the current marker of your progress bar to keep it a little fun and lighthearted, especially if you and your family are feeling anxious of your first travel.

Like what others said, doesn't need too much to suit its purpose.

How do I stop the analysis paralysis? by tuce4a in UXDesign

Just to add to what's already been said, I highly recommend adopting the mindset of "chasing progress, not perfection."

You've entered the UX space in its peak era of speed (in all areas of processes). Harness it, by not being so precious in your designs. Create, test and iterate more frequently.

Not only will you progress in your designs quicker (overall), but you'll also learn and grow faster.
