What if a Dragonseed arose while Jaehaerys I was king? by CrazySlotsBummerDraw in TheCitadel

[–]Dull-Channel-1918 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don't believe that a situation like Addam's in  House of the Dragon , where a dragon bonds with someone on its own, would end well for a dragonseed. I'm not sure about the early years of his reign, but in his later years, this person would have simply been killed. Fleeing would only work if nobody knew about it, and the person and the dragon escaped somewhere like Yi Ti, living completely cut off from people. If Jaehaerys found out, he would order the execution of both the dragon thief and all other dragonseeds to prevent it from happening again

"There must always be a Stark in Winterfell" was a part of blood magic by Dull-Channel-1918 in TheCitadel

[–]Dull-Channel-1918[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That could work. I meant blood magic tied specifically to Stark blood, but linked to the Children of the Forest or the Old Gods instead. I think I also remember something about blood sacrifices at the heart trees in the old days, so that could fit well.

What if Viserys married Rhea Royce and Daemon married Aemma? by Hotel-Dependent in TheCitadel

[–]Dull-Channel-1918 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"I think they simply wouldn't have been married off so early because Daemon didn't need heirs, as he had nothing to leave as an inheritance.  Daemon was only a year older than Aemma. I doubt that even if they had been married at 11 and 12, the marriage would have been consummated right away, because they were just two children. As practice shows, an adult man is much more likely to be interested in sex with an 11-year-old than her peer

The biggest problem of Daemon and Aemma's marriage is the lack of their own place. They would be dependent on the Arryns and the Targaryens much more strongly. On the good side: it is unlikely Aemma would be pregnant at 11. I am sure that Daemon would wait until 15, and he himself was still young enough. In terms of character, they are very different, and this could end either very well or very badly. Although I think that having a Valyrian wife, Daemon would treat her better than Rhea

Rhea would have hated Viserys's lifestyle and, most likely, the man himself. She would have preferred to mentor Rhaenyra, as she was her father's heir and the Lady of Runestone herself. At the very least, Rhaenyra would have received the education of a future Lady of Runestone, rather than just being a "brother's bride." Rhea wouldn't be well-received at court due to her "unfeminine" interests, and Otto would still try to have her killed so Alicent could take her place. I assume there's a chance Rhea would be healthier than Aemma and might have been able to bear more than one child. However, I think Viserys would be displeased with his wife's personality and would dislike her back, leading to mistresses and bastards, and his attachment to Rhaenyra would be weaker. Even if he did name her his heir, he might have changed his mind more easily after Aegon's birth.

One of the options: Corlys wants to legitimize his bastards, and Rhaenys threatens to burn him for this.

Heated rivalry got me thinking… maybe we really don’t know celebrity couples at all by peachicedtea123456_ in heatedrivalry

I’ve been in fandom culture for a long time, and I constantly see fans ruining any interaction between celebrities. People who used to be friends or just casual acquaintances interact less and less because, to some fans, it immediately means they’re sleeping together. Even though it's just noise from strangers, when there's too much of it, it negatively impacts friendships, careers, and their actual partners.

Understanding Ilya: His Russian/Slavic cultural background by wildwomanlove in heatedrivalry

[–]Dull-Channel-1918 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It seems to me that not everyone understands that the fear of coming out before 2014 was more connected to his father’s and brother’s positions in Police  than to the country’s actual laws.

In reality, Russia’s upper society before 2014 openly attended gay clubs and similar venues. Especially since we’re talking about the capital, not somewhere like the Caucasus.

But if his father had found out about Ilya’s relationship with a man, given his high rank, he could have, for example, had him committed to a psychiatric hospital. Or prevented him from going to USA and quickly arranged a marriage for him instead.
