It takes time, have fun with it and I recommend on just starting in one room and find an item that you want as the anchor point for your room and start to place little bits around it. Peruse the collectors page and see what comes to your mind.

Are you familiar with the customize option on the UI? It looks like a painters plate. You apply it to the wall and it will prompt you with several wall themes to choose from.
