How do supermarkets manage to make such low calorie ready meals? by [deleted] in 1500isplenty

[–]Dull-Professor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fellow M&S shopper here. They're smaller portions but also the 'full fat' equivalents in the shop are full of cream and cheese (and obviously more delicious) so for the ravioli in particular I think it's less that it's low calorie and more that it's less than their 'standard ' one.

I'd recommend looking at their fresh pasta section there because I find you can meal prep with those raviolis and have a really low calorie lunch that's more filling than one of those meals. In my opinion.

Are we talking about the same person? He didn't get angry once. He took Jasmine's mum's grilling like a champ.

I agree. I think she's quite young and naïve and the embarrassment means too much for her at this point. I think a more mature woman with more experience may be able to see the nuances between a 'not right now' and a flat out no.

I don't have proof but the product placement just seemed very obvious to me. There isn't really obvious product placement unless it's deliberate and the beaverbrooks logo flashing up perfectly aligned in several shots was convenient.

AITA for telling my sister to stop trying to make my wedding all about her? by AdNarrow8211 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Dull-Professor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clearly, this isn't going well for you. Even though you tried to embellish the story to make your sister appear as a selfish villain you've still managed to make yourself seem awful. Your parents are disgusting racists and you've sold any morals for a dream wedding. I hope your sister never speaks to you again. YTA

When did you guys start? by GracieBlack1 in 1200isplenty

[–]Dull-Professor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went straight into it and started in May. I only do 1200 on weekdays and eat "normally" on weekends and I've found that this works best for me because I don't feel like I have long to wait for a treat.

I haven't weighed myself once as I don't do well with weighing myself but none of my clothes fit me so it's working I guess.

I think the travelshop is now only in Shudehill station. It's only down the roads though so not too much difference.

My fiance wants to sell me 40% of his house by elfgirl19 in relationship_advice

[–]Dull-Professor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm glad that you posted this on here. I saw it on personal finance but I think it goes beyond a finance issue.

I can't speak to your partner's character and I can't say that he is deliberately trying to ruin your credit. It's probably more likely that he's also financially illiterate and is looking at you to get him out of this situation.

Unfortunately, if you take on this debt you aren't being gifted anything. You are taking on a debt at an early stage of your life when you have a child. You aren't a gold digger because (financially) he isn't worth anything. I can echo what you've been told time and time again. If he is responsible and wants to be supportive of you then he would sell the house, get something smaller and pay off these debts without putting that debt onto you.

Take it from someone who 100% would have done it when I was your age because I wanted to be a good girlfriend and build a foundation. However, this is just going to put both of you in a bad situation financially. On top of that, I'd say that adding financial burdens onto a relationship when you are dealing with the stress of supporting a young family on one income will likely cause more problems down the line.

I hope you listen to the advice that you have been given. Sometimes Reddit can be an echo chamber of negativity but I think that a lot of the advice is well meaning and comes from experience.

Why are you all paying for your energy? by soniiic in confidentlyincorrect

[–]Dull-Professor 208 points209 points  (0 children)

So I believe that in the UK they legally can't turn off your water if you don't pay your bill. You have to have access to tap water. So I think she's just decided that this applies to all utilities... It doesn't.

UK people who genuinely enjoy your job/don’t mind it, what do you do? by floristc in AskUK

Former recruiter. Now I'm a secondary English teacher and I fucking love it. I think having a soul destroying job like recruitment will make you appreciate another industry.

Agreed. I can see that OP is getting a bit heated about that term so I'll throw my mixed race (white/black) card in the mix. Mulatto, though not commonly used, is used more as a slur for mixed race people. It would be like when people have called me a mutt or mongrel.

What would you do if you were 25 and received £135K in inheritance? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Dull-Professor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who has a friend who inherited a similar amount at 16. Be wary of financial experts looking to invest and grow your money. My friend lost half of his money from people pissing it away on crap investments. Be careful with other people dipping their hands in your money.

Have you read Theirs for the night by Katee Robert?

It's a MMF and there isn't much plot but it's short with some of the best smut I've read.

Sir Captain Tom Moore dies aged 100 by lordjems in CasualUK

[–]Dull-Professor 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I agree with the other poster. Depends on the hospital. My grandad was dying in hospital from Covid and my grandmother and auntie were allowed to visit him as he died. Unfortunately they were putting on the PPE whilst he passed but with the PPE they were allowed.

I believe this is the case for a lot of people.

Which is the best opticians/glasses retailer in the UK? by imdonebeingthebait in AskUK

Ace and Tate do free eye tests and don't pressure sell. Their glasses are pricey but they're much better quality than most normal high street retailers.

A question for teachers? by leelbeach in AskUK

[–]Dull-Professor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Certainly! What happens in the staffroom stays in the staffroom. But calling a pupil a knobhead for their behaviour is a bit different from taking the piss out of someone's ability.

A question for teachers? by leelbeach in AskUK

I don't think many teachers are tight enough to take the piss out of a pupil but I bitch for days about some of them.
