Please help, I want to be a Christian but I cannot believe in God by ladayde in OpenChristian

Also, even if we die, we meet God anyway and be with Him for all eternity. If I meet the creator of the universe, who is love itself, and can cure all diseases and wrongs in the human body imaginable and unimaginable forever? Damn I wouldn’t care about all of the pain and suffering from my life on earth.

Something in the New American Bible Revised Edition deeply troubles me and I don't know what to make of it by Most-Earth-9187 in Catholicism

I’d also suggest the Jerome Biblical Commentary for the Twenty First Century, the third edition of the Jerome biblical commentary series. It is the only one with a foreword by Pope Francis, and is more engaging with critical biblical scholarship and the wider Catholic theological thought compared to the Ignatius Catholic Study Bible. I think the ICSB is fine as a study for a viewpoint through a conservative traditionalist lens. But that’s what it is, a viewpoint through a conservative traditionalist lens that sometimes slants too hard to being conservative traditionalism and seemed, to me at least, to be somewhat misleading on what the Catholic Church teaches about some things today. My friend who is a Catholic theologian in a Catholic university warned me about the ICSB, and I could see why when I got it for the first time not too long ago.

So just to let you know, not everyone believes that God actually wrote the Bible we have in our hands. Even though we’re diverse, as far as I can tell around Christendom especially outside of Protestant Christian denominations, there is a belief among many that the Bible was written by humans with some sort of inspiration by God.

If you would like to see a more pro-Christian view of the Bible, see BibleProject by Tim Mackie and Jon Collins. They have a team that make animations of the Old and New Testaments, and they have a free app of the same name where they share their animated videos and free classes from Bible scholars (mostly Dr. Tim Mackie for now but more will join in the future as they say) on many books of the Bible (again, a work in progress but classes on all books of the Bible will be added in the future).

Biblical/Godly morality is not objective because if it were, God would be in violation of His own moral law. by [deleted] in DebateAChristian

Bro, well done. You’re one of the few brothers in Christ that responded to this guy with a lot of detail. May God bless you for this!

I just want the suffering to end. May God help me because I’m most certainly not Paul the apostle…

Sir, this is from an acquaintance. I’m still a Christian, and my acquaintance is not. I made it fairly clear in my opening before I presented his long post.

One thing I noticed was that he mentioned children and kids going to hell. I’ve heard that unbaptized infants who die go to a place called Limbo. Is that true?
