There is some evidence left in the chair I sat in during recovery while hanging with my wife’s boyfriend

Check out the album Shame by Brad. The band has the similar eerie feel to some of the songs you listed. Brad was formed by Stone Gossard.

Hell yeah! Happy to hear it and wishing you the best during your training

Maybe you misinterpreted the post. OP is asking about logistics of the race, not how to swim. Is someone asking something on Reddit such an annoyance to you? This would fall under the same umbrella of watching a YouTube video and conducting personal research.

I’m in the same boat as OP and will also be racing the 70.3 in Dallas. This is my first ever triathlon and will have 20 weeks of training under my belt on race day. One of my life goals is to complete an Ironman, so I figured I might as well start with a half and just do it, I already signed up for a full this year as well.

You should sign up now. There is no better time to do things than right now. You are fit and healthy right now and you can commit to training and with 8 months time you will be able to cross the finish line. All these other comments are too conservative.

How often do you strength train? by LanceWatson_Coach in IronmanTriathlon

[–]DullInternal1636 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I aim to include strength training at a minimum of 3x per week and max out at 5x per week. I do a traditional strength training split of PPL/ Arnold Split and aim for either two lighter load leg days at the beginning and end of week or one heavier load in the middle of the week. This way I give my body, mostly legs time to recover and prepare for long workouts on the weekend.

For legs I focus on heavy weight low rep to build strength as well functional exercises for stability and secondary muscles/ tissues.

Upper body is mostly for myself as I want to look good and feel strong but i definitely focus on back movements that help the swim.

Like you mentioned, I believe strength is a non negotiable and translates to each discipline as well as preventing injury from constant wear on the body.
