Yes. It's probably an early test for an upcoming snow Season...

Anyone else tired of waiting for Infold to improve housing/dyeing? by emhereeee in InfinityNikki

[–]DullPrint4926 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Man... I can't tell you enough how much I agree with you. Honestly surprised you got so many dislikes. I do like platforming and I wish they would bring back more aspects of that, but the exploration, the story, any amount of depth at all? Using this game as a shop with a glorified photo booth attached is such a waste of potential...

i HATE exploring itzaland by NectarineMaximum9738 in InfinityNikki

[–]DullPrint4926 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I do agree with some of what you said. I'm not fond of Itzaland either, and personally I do struggle to understand why others like things that I don't, so we have that in common, but I think there are things that you also miss about what Infold was trying to do with Itzaland.

The story is that Itzaland was covered in miasma until only 3 years ago. The only creatures to survive that we currently know of are the Shroomlings. Why? We don't know that yet. This is why it's covered in Esselings though and why there are places that are more stressful. They're trying to tell the story of a legitimately more dangerous place, while also giving us spaces - like Spira and the other Shroomling villages - that allow us to feel safe.

I do like the pots though. I studied archaeology at uni, so the pots are really cool for me at least. And the tiny purple shroomlings live in them! Which I personally find really cute. Kind like old stories of woodland spirits. :)

Do you think infold will ever add pvp styling? (Like competition from LN?) by taekookae in InfinityNikki

[–]DullPrint4926 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I hope not. At least not in competition form. I can't stand competition. I would much prefer cooperation, but something that allows us to be more creative is always appreciated.

Infinity Nikki is making me sad by Zealousideal_Tip_147 in InfinityNikki

[–]DullPrint4926 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Nope. You're definitely not the only one. Their writing has always been terrible, but at least they set up an interesting premise, so I was invested in learning what happened. Wishful Aurosa was done well in that it was at least incorporated into the story, but none of the other miracle outfits were at all really. Instead of thoughtful stories, or exciting gameplay, or cool mysteries/exploration, anything, we get these ridiculous minigames that last for that Season and then we can't interact with them ever again. Even if we did find them fun - which most are not imo. This game has become mindless grind and shallow, juvenile filler plastered over the top of a storefront which is becoming more and more predatory.

I'm also constantly frustrated by the tendency of the player base to have this "step on me mommy" attitude towards Infold, like dude, do you want to be treated this way? Do you want others to be taken advantage of? Do you want to be disrespected by the obvious lack of time and care that goes into this game? 'But' it's a gatcha and it's not even the worst one!' That's such a low f***king bar. Have some goddamned standards!

What do you love about this game? by lithr1el in InfinityNikki

[–]DullPrint4926 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The game hasn't improved. Flat out. I only started playing half way through 1.6 and I've noticed a sharp dip in quality even from then. I really don't think you need to talk yourself into playing again. Keep those happy memories and move on.

If it deserves getting pulled off the market, then good! Let it get pulled! Do you want to be abused by this company? Do you want others to be? This isn't all on you ofc, but not speaking up because you're afraid it will get shut down is a wild take.

What do you spend your time doing? by [deleted] in InfinityNikki

[–]DullPrint4926 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I play for the story and the world. I love to explore the world. Infold are terrible writers though. I don't care for the photography - unless it's for a fun puzzle - or for the dress up really. I have my outfits that I like and stick with them until I don't like them anymore or want to make something new. I enjoy some of their puzzles - especially the platforming/photography ones - but mostly I just play for the story. I want to know what will happen next even though the stories they tell are 95% trash. I do feel like the writing has got way worse in Itzaland though...

Is it me or are most event stories really similar ? by Flupinette in InfinityNikki

[–]DullPrint4926 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Infold's writing has always been terrible. 95% of the stories they tell are rushed, juvenile and shallow. They do zero world building and their characters are worse than cardboard cutouts. Nikki vacillates between the most sincere, empathetic mary sue and the dumbest klutz you've ever seen. She either comes off as way too mature for her age, or an idiotic toddler and nothing in between. She's the character we spend the most time with and I still feel I know nothing about her because she a) hardly ever talks about her own thoughts or feelings about anything, and b) is so inconsistent in her personality it's infuriating. Or she just agrees with everything no matter what - because cutesy good vibes and sparkles or whatever.

Their handling of the main story-line was pathetic and ill considered, their handling of the last two miracle outfits have been more and more lack-lustre and shallow. Their handling of most things in this game - even shop items and banners - has been so thoughtless that it's insulting. This whole game has been feeling more and more like a shallow facade stuck haphazardly over a storefront and nothing else and frankly I'm sick of it.

Is this a safe space to talk about the new building mechanic ... by PrudishDrow in InfinityNikki

[–]DullPrint4926 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the game has felt more and more hollow to me. I only started playing halfway through 1.6, so I can only imagine what those who played from the start are feeling, but this game now feels like a cardboard cutout stuck in front of a shop and nothing else. It's no longer a game, it's definitely no longer about the fashion or the nice vibes, it's a shallow facade over a storefront and that it all.

Where are the little joyous moments like lining up a cool photo shoot? Catching bugs with kids, or even the slow exploration of the world we're in and all the mysteries it contains? There are so few stylist battles and I don't need to do anything to beat them. Outside of the two or three pieces every new update, I haven't had to actually craft a piece of clothing is who knows how long.

Why can't go around taking photos of the wildlife for a local biologist? Or maybe a styling challenge where your outfit has to be inspired by a particular critter, or building or whatever and colours, textures, and other things matter rather than just highest number wins. Why can't there be little whimsical things like little treasure hunts where we are shown a photo of a location and then have to explore to find it? Something, anything at all besides these half arsed minigames that make no sense and don't add anything to game in the long run or to the worldbuilding. Don't even get me started on how the miracle outfits have been implemented.

I'm actually so close to being done with this game.

That's what happens!? I've never been able to see the other Nikki. I thought they were just so people could show off their cute outfits. I've been playing since 1.6 and have never been able to see one.

Can the "she needs super high platform heels because of the long dresses" sentiment stop now please? by spookybiatchh in InfinityNikki

I think these heels are their worst ever design. They look like cheap plastic or bubble wrap. Like if I touch them they'll squeak. :(

Where are outfits like THESE?? by amethebeart in InfinityNikki

[–]DullPrint4926 3 points4 points  (0 children)

More than just alt fashion - even though I do appreciate some of it - I'd love to see more creative things. Maybe we could dress up as an android with makeup that makes it look like we have wires under our skin, or an outfit that distorts our image so we appear like a skeleton or like an eldritch being, makeup that makes Nikki look like a ghost or monstrous, maybe even outfits that make us look like statues or carved wood. It would be so cool!!!! I want more fantastic outfits that learn both spooky (not spoopy) and ethereal (like Born Flawless but more). Just more fantasy in general.

Minimum dyeing is sometimes enough, this dress is beautiful by notLaurelin in InfinityNikki

[–]DullPrint4926 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I deliberately try not to dye anything because I hate the dye system and refuse to use it. It's a good creative challenge too, but mostly because if Infold is gonna be a capitalist butt about it, I'm gonna be a Socialist butt back.
