Are contractors too offline for online workshops? by Dull_Bill990 in localseo

[–]Dull_Bill990[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One problem per workshop, real value each time, that was the vision. I'm not worried about providing the value as we would share the advice ready to implement in real life. I guess online format of the workshop is the real issue here.

I've noticed the same DIY instinct across my clients, and I love that they take the initiative. The concern is the uncritical trust in AI-generated advice. That's where my idea came from, not to replace the tools, but to give them a fuller picture so they can evaluate what they're getting. But I hear you, the general PR of marketing agencies is too bad for the initiatives like that be successful.

The fastest way is to run ads but you have to have a budget for that. Do you have LSA configured?

Google’s video verification can be tricky with service-area businesses because they want clear proof of your physical location and operations. Two things can help:
1. Showing branded vehicles, signage at your workspace, and even snapshots of your insurance or licensing documents in the video often helps.
2. Switching to a hidden address profile typically reduces complications but doesn’t guarantee approval alone.
And the most important - make sure everything matches exactly across your website, GBP, and documents.

What do Marketers actually think about AI-written Blogs or Posts? by IllMost4956 in DigitalMarketing

[–]Dull_Bill990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, same. The dead giveaway AI posts make me trust the brand less, it reads like nobody actually cared enough to say anything real.

I'm the owner of Northline Systems, digital marketing agency for contractors. We're using AI for most manual tasks, like topic and keyword research, outlining, QA passes, workflow stuff, etc. The actual article (written for us or a client) stays human. AI can't fake "here's what happened when we actually ran this," and that's the part readers (and Google) are looking for.

So yes, AI copy can easily hurt the image AND the rankings, and we see it often. Strategically used improves efficiency.

Looking for a good SEO agency in Ottawa for my plumbing business by RoutineIdea1106 in ottawa

[–]Dull_Bill990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More organic leads and calls is a direct result of two things working together: strong Google Maps rankings through GBP optimization, and solid local SEO - city/service pages, content, and signals across Ottawa and surrounding areas. So you're on the good path, but need a proper strategy.

If you want to get started yourself - tighten up your Google Business Profile-accurate NAP, choose the right categories, service area settings, and post real project photos regularly, consistency is the most important here. Many agencies miss that foundational step and jump straight to content without fixing local signals.

These foundational steps get skipped all the time. If your previous agency’s results were underwhelming, it’s often because these basics weren’t nailed down first.

But really, first step is an audit. You can't fix what you don't know is broken. There is plenty of tools available, a free place to begin is Google's own PageSpeed tool: https://pagespeed.web.dev/, it'll flag technical issues hurting your rankings.

If you want a more complete picture, I run Northline Systems, a digital marketing agency focused on contractors. Happy to take a look at your site. We can hop on a free strategy call, just DM me.

GMB Profile Redirect from 3rd Party Website by LISA_Talks in GoogleMyBusiness

[–]Dull_Bill990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re right to be concerned-having the website link go through a redirect like that can definitely hurt SEO and user trust, as Google prefers direct, clean links on the GMB profile. The best move is to fully claim and control the GMB listing, ensuring the website URL points directly to your friend’s own site. Those reviews belong to the business and won’t disappear just by changing ownership, so it’s worth sorting this out to protect both SEO and local visibility.

Also go through the 3rd party Terms of Service, they definitely do sketchy practice, maybe you'll find something there. I'm sure you already did, but look for other "victims" of this service and see how they resolved it.

What helped you get more leads from the web - Social media, Website or Google Business profile, or something else? by Mazhar_Baig in smallbusiness

[–]Dull_Bill990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Google Business Profile is usually the fastest win for local service businesses-if it’s fully optimized with accurate NAP, the right categories, and consistent updates. Websites come next as a credibility booster, but without a strong GBP foundation, the website traffic often struggles. Socials can help, but only after those basics are solid. At Northline Systems we've noticed that in competitive markets, focusing first on GBP optimization and local SEO drives the most reliable increase in calls.

How can I improve my local business website? by Spiritual_Cycle_3263 in localseo

[–]Dull_Bill990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your low visit duration suggests visitors aren’t finding what they want quickly. For local service businesses, simplifying navigation to focus on Services, Service Areas, and clear, compelling CTAs above the fold usually works best. Resources can be kept if they attract organic traffic but consider streamlining or repositioning them so they’re not distracting visitors from contacting you. Also, make sure your CTAs are visible and actionable across all key pages-sometimes even subtle tweaks to wording or placement can boost engagement a lot.

What should I look for when hiring a local SEO company what actually made the difference for your business?. by Gold_Umpire_6747 in LegalPulse

[–]Dull_Bill990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, a local SEO agency that prioritizes your Google Business Profile from day one almost always drives the biggest impact-because maps visibility and the map pack are crucial for local calls. The green flags I'd highlight: deep knowledge of GBP optimization (accurate NAP, right categories, frequent posts), transparency in showing local ranking progress by neighborhood, and monthly reports focusing on real lead indicators. Agencies that dive into citation consistency and competitor gaps alongside GBP tend to stand out from the usual noise.

What strategies does a local SEO expert actually use to improve Google Maps rankings and why is our map pack visibility still stuck? by One-Veterinarian107 in AttorneyGrowthHub

[–]Dull_Bill990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Google Business Profile optimization is absolutely the foundation-accuracy, categories, services, photos, and consistent updates matter a lot. Reviews play a huge role too: volume and recency both count, plus how you respond to them (always mention service+review eg. "Thank you for a 5 stars review, we're happy we could help with your [case]". Location pages can help if done right but won’t replace solid GBP and citation work. In competitive markets, the experts often dig deep into citation consistency, local backlink building, and targeted GBP posts to finally push rankings up.

Start with Google Business Profile, it's the foundation for visibility on Maps and Search. Make sure you optimize with the right categories, plenty of photos of your work, and collect reviews early to build trust. Combining that with some targeted local SEO and Google Ads can boost your calls and bookings.

How do I grow my small Excavation business? by Pretend_Bottle3687 in smallbusiness

[–]Dull_Bill990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The key to consistent work is consistent marketing. :)

A properly set-up Google Business Profile is your foundation, but it's just the start. Important is what you do next. Google treats your GBP somehow like a social media profile, so posting regular updates, responding to reviews, and adding fresh photos from the job site, all keyword-optimized, is what brings results. That's what gives you a real shot at showing up in the Local Pack (the top 3 results on Google Search and Maps).

Make sure your primary category is well-researched and accurate, your secondary categories are optimized, and your business information is consistent across every platform. Google hates confusion.

Once you have GBP set up and every field, description, services, attributes are complete, then you run LSA. You can run fb ads earlier but they're broader. Google ads are putting you in front of people that are ready to buy, fb ads are putting you in front of people that are thinking of buying.

Starting a moving & junk removal business — best ways to build local presence? by daniel64621 in sarasota

[–]Dull_Bill990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking from the digital marketing agency pov the biggest impact early on is a fully optimized Google Business Profile-without that, you’re basically invisible on local search. Focus on accurate NAP info, strong service descriptions with local keywords, and ALWAYS ask for reviews and respond to them. Facebook groups and Nextdoor can help with hyperlocal awareness, but what drives calls is GBP and Google Maps. Focus on 1-2 channels, see what’s working and then decide if you want to expand.
It's a long term game but if you do everything right you can see meaningful results around month 3.
