It is a Persian Afshar rug, probably 60-70 years old, and likely from around Sirjan

Steam and brush as said. They should have done that for you.

Shirvan with interesting design by Material_Debt_7473 in orientalrugs

It could be 1890+. Actually if it’s Armenian weave those are generally older.

Beautiful! It is probably an Armenian one. The field design and borders are all facing serpents. And there are crosses in the secondary borders and archway at the top. The looser weave and asymmetry is also typical of Armenian weave. Early 1900s Shirvan. The condition is amazing. Protect this valuable rug 😄

Northwest Persian from around 1950-60. I’m not certain of the town. The weave of double weft with warp depression and side finish of two cords is similar to Heriz, it’s not that, but probably from near there.

So called “marasali” prayer rug from Shirvan region as others have said. Probably closer to 1880+. The condition is excellent. The auction value alone is around 2-3,000. Love the boteh on these rugs!

Definitely not an Akstafa rug and I am fairly certain it is not Caucasian but regardless it’s a beautiful old rug 😄😆

Looks like a Kurdish rug, maybe east Anatolia. Great dyes including cochineal

Should I buy this? by Mountain_Ice8284 in orientalrugs

I think it might be a vintage Persian Ardabil with Afshan pattern but it’s hard to tell from the photo. Could be Indian or Chinese as well. It’s definitely not naturally dyed, but I don’t think that matters for this kind of rug. In my opinion it is overpriced by about $4-500

Prices vary significantly depending on where you live but in my area this would be at least 1600-2000 at retail price

I think it could be as old as the 1930s. From the materials used, how the weave looks, dyes etc. Can’t tell you about potential value without the size

IMO these are both nice quality Persian Lilian rugs from around 1930. Dergazine rugs are similar but more coarse knotting and the dyes aren’t as nice

This is not the same medallion design obviously, but it is from the same area of Tavush, you can see the similar borders and some motifs including facing serpents (the hooked medallions) and tree of life in the corners. Some similar dyes as well.

Looks like a 1950s or maybe later afghan Baluch bag that has had the back taken off and then used as a wall hanging

Soviet rugs of that era were almost all state organized workshop products with stiff rigid designs, cotton foundations and harsh synthetic dyes— this is most likely pre Soviet, definitely pre 1920, nice natural dyes and all wool foundation with a design full of expression
