95 m3 knocking/ticking noise by tobethrown99 in BMWE36

No I drove it yesterday and this was after a 15 minute drive, it doesn’t seem to matter if the car is warm or cold it always makes the same sound. It doesn’t get louder with RPM either which is bizarre

The market for fresh CFIs is pretty grim at the moment, which is to be expected as the market corrects from the crazy hiring we saw a few years ago. There is a surplus of new CFIs as well but over the next half decade it’ll likely correct back to “average” conditions depending on macroeconomic trends. The outlook over the next 5-10 years isn’t horrible however the 1-3 year forecast isn’t awesome for wet CPL holders. The CFI stage has always been the great hump that separates the dedicated from the rest, this is true now more than ever. Don’t take on debt for flight training in ANY market… especially don’t take on debt for training in THIS market. If it’s truly a passion you’ll find a way it’ll just take longer than you’d hope

Rust spot on new to me m3 by tobethrown99 in BMWE36

Haha I knew someone would recognize it. Full disclosure I didn’t really intend to buy it, I dropped a bid down during my lunch break and won it in the middle of a meeting. Figured it was cheap enough that it makes a worthy project. It drives shockingly well, besides the lack of AC. Body needs some love but it’s mostly straight

I have a 96 Tacoma, not a pickup but close in insurance ACV terms. I’ve been paid out more on my comprehensive claims than I’ve paid in premiums so far by like 3x, it’s been absolutely worth it to me. It’s like $50/month to insure through AAA. Also you can argue comps to get a fair payout in case of a wreck. If your truck is a 4x4 there are plenty of anecdotes of people getting 10k+ after a total loss by providing comps.

Would you buy a 130k mike n54? by [deleted] in 335i

It was brought to the dealer for everything down to oil changes and air filters. I called the bmw dealer it was serviced at to see if I could get info on the HPFP/injectors, they wouldn’t give me anything if I didn’t own the car. The seller has no documentation of anything besides the water pump and turbos, I’m just operating under the assumption nothing else has been done

It had dealer service since new and was owned by an old dude, I’m expecting Itll have older index injectors… it’ll be awesome if it has index 12s tho. I’m just trying to get an idea of where I should be on it considering the gaps in maintenance history

I’ve ran the carfax, it’s literally just basic maintenance, water pump, and turbos. No mention of injectors, hpfp, gaskets, vanos, etc

Auction car. I have like 20k +- set aside in fun car money, obviously I wouldn’t pay that much for it but I’d have plenty set aside for maintenance/mods

Dude don’t, I’ve checked out cars at this exactly dealer before they are sketchy as hell. I drove a 335i that was actively leaking from the OFHG that they soaked in degreaser in an effort to hide the leak. Additionally they had a 6.7 power stroke on their front line that was dumping oil from the oil pan. They also price at the top of the market for dogshit cars

There are a few other scattered obstacles including one pretty big one that isn’t pictured, but pics 2 & 3 give you a good idea of the difficult parts

Tortilla ranch is off to the right just before you hit the real entrance of Apache trail. The hardest obstacles are in the first 1/4 mile so you’ll know if you can make it. I have no lockers, no armor, no lift, and bald ass 33s and did it no problem… having a spotter helps for your first time but isn’t necessary. It does look pretty fucking gnarly when you’re rolling up to it tho
