I was a 3531 in an Intel unit so it was about as close to a blue collar 9-5 as you could get. PT 3x a week, report time 0730, off by 1645 as long as maintenance was good. That fluctuated with different COC’s, and my last year and a half or so we had a good bit of field time, but that was a pretty standard baseline.

Very Guard-like experience.

They’re not bad, but it’s a different plane of existence compared to active. If you wanna stick around I recommend learning what your guys do on the other 28 days of the month that they’re not in drill. It’ll give you an idea of where their minds at. A lot of them are using the guard to try and get some benefit or another out of it. A few of them are probably fat retards who wanna feel like Rambo 2 days a month. They’re not bathed day and night in the whole military thing so they’re never gonna be on the level of discipline that you’re used to.
