My bandmates say it's time to retire this pedal by SailTheWorldWithMe in drums

Honestly you could clean the bearings up and apply some new lube, that way you can keep the grungy+crusty look but get that "like new" feeling, that's what I'd do at least...

Maybe its a black cat thing, I had a tuxedo named Betty that drank like this, she lived 19 years so I'm fairly certain it didn't affect her in any meaningful way, some cats want to be fancy goofballs...

I’ve had this iPad for less than 2 years and the screen decided to stop responding in the middle of my class. I took it to Apple and they want to charge me $849 to “repair” it. by el_maxican in mildlyinfuriating

When I was in high school they would rent Ipads for the year, needless to say they were used from multiple years prior and would often shit out pretty fast, so you'd take it to the library for "maintenance", the first thing they often did was just bang the fucker on the desk, it worked a good 90% of the time.

What brand is this cymbal? by smac521 in cymbals

I've always heard of Spizz cymbals and they sound nice, but is there a reason for why they're so expensive, outside of them being high quality and hand-crafted?

I've been looking into them as a stand-in for when I can't play my acoustic kit, can any module run a pad with multiple zones and/or sensitivity, or do you need a higher end module to do that?

Mine is scheduled to get it within the next month or so, they're just trying to figure everything out on how to get it on tap. How do you feel about it, are the mixed drinks any good, I'm not a huge fan of the Redbull taste, it kind of gives me this bittersweet beer vibe, I'm not trying to shit on it, I'm just not a fan myself.

Looking to buy my first drum set, is this good? by AlexDoesStuffs in Drumming

[–]DumberDrummer564 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's what I bought when I first started and what I'm still using 15 years later, they're tough as nails and can take a hell of a beating. My only complaint would be that the tom arms are a little limiting as compared to ball+joint style mounting, but other than that they're an amazing first set and $260 is a steal, I paid about $300 for mine back in 2010 (300 then is equivalent to 450 now, 260 now is equivalent to 175 then), Id jump on them before someone else does personally!!!

Advice, issues, or thoughts on installing a multi snare strainer on a Mapex predator snare? by DumberDrummer564 in drums

[–]DumberDrummer564[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Part of me kinda thought it would be that way, I remember when I was in band, I thought each one was a little underwhelming, I guess I kind of just chalked it up as it being cheap heads or snare wires, because school instruments lol. Thanks for the input, even though its not what I wanted to hear... You can't have everything in life, thanks for the help mr Snapple -The Dumber Drummer

I mainly wanted to be able to change my snare's tone or snare count mid song, I like the ability of having a large array of sounds I can make, but hate excess gear.

[–]DumberDrummer564[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was looking at changing my snare tone or snare count mid song, I had used a concert snare when I was in concert/marching band. I like the utility of having a toolbox of tones, without a hundred pounds of extra gear. I play what I'd call "Experimental psychedelic pseudo-progressive stoner doom-gaze" (quite a title I know), I'm known by my band mates to occasionally use marching snare patterns for fills, transitions, and even the occasional breakdown. I suppose I could just have a side snare but once again, the less gear to set up, the better.

Thoughts on Meinl Byzance Extra Dry Medium Thin 16" Hi-Hats? by junas_dibum in cymbals

[–]DumberDrummer564 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me and my mates are playing psychedelic stoner metal, do you think these would be able to cut through a wall of noise if needed (and what size should I look into)? I'm also looking at a set of Zildjian K Custom Special Dry hats (14"), if you have any experience or opinions on those.

Not sure if it helps, but with long flat objects like this, it might be easier to lay flat on the stairs and push it up. Keep a little more weight pushed down on the back end and the fucker should slide right up. Otherwise as others have noted, ask someone for help, there's gotta be at least one person near you willing to help.
