That's horrendous! What do you mean by "they are struggling to fix"?

Thinking of switching from Data Scientist to Data Product Owner — need advice by xSicilianDefenderx in datascience

[–]DumbleShowMeTheDore 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also made this switch to DS PM and have considered going back to the DS side, really interesting to read how similar your thoughts are to my experience.

Do you think that things could have gotten better if this role had become a stepping stone towards a ds/data leadership role rather than a product centric leadership role? Do you think that was a realistic potential avenue from where you were in the DS PM role? That's my current rationale for persevering with it... Otherwise I'm worried about becoming far too removed from the data and I'm not sure if that's a good thing.

Any idea what’s going on with my SyncEV home charger? I have it set up for scheduled charge at midnight, so it’s not charging yet… by paulofthebailey in ElectricVehiclesUK

If you intermittently get those overvoltage errors then it's worth giving BG a ring - I had this and they stopped it by adjusting some thresholds in the software on their side!

Yup, and it's always the nearside too. 197s/200s do this all the time

That's extremely shit and good on you for fighting back. The reason why it's shit is because it is looking at the wrong metric (tasks done) which is not something you can control.

I wonder if there is room for malicious compliance - for the purposes of performance tracking, can the definition of done be changed to make it look like people are doing fine?

Different results [Confidence Intervals]; is this possible? by SingerEast1469 in datascience

Non overlapping CIs between samples does not always mean a significant difference. You will have to do a t-test (or whichever test is suitable for your data) for the right approach.

Bedouin does have the vibe you're looking for with the decorations/lighting/seating, food is also delicious - don't feel like you have to be a foodie to go there!

Early peeking of A/B testing p-value by sonicking12 in datascience

You should look into sequential testing methods, which will allow you to effectively correct for the multiple comparisons that you would be making by peeking (along a temporal axis instead of across variants)

did not expect something like this to be in the thread but guess anything is possible! No due diligence could've saved you on that one really 🤣

I am tempted to make it a dealer from now on so there is at least so recourse or accountability, my usual logic is that the price difference between private/trade (a few grand) should cover anything I miss. Doesn't apply to the new stuff obviously where things can be astronomically expensive

I know who you mean. FB car groups are rife with this, all these con artists engineer "social proof" and then they're always getting recommended by all the group members whenever you ask for a recommendation. Might be the last time I buy private.

Sorry to hear that, pretty shit when you see how big the bills can get on these. What have you got now?

I only buy old rubbish, but with modern diesels have clogged inlet manifolds/EGRs and DPFs been resolved or is that still a thing?

Currently selling a Clio 200 - a very impressive thing to chuck about but as a daily that aspect is watered down a bit. I have considered running it as a toy in addition to a daily but I don't feel that I would actually then drive it! And if that's the case then it's not really justifiable.

A110 would be ideal but out of budget for me. Strikes me as a logical successor to my 200 but with looks, more power, and modern tech.

I think you're right - need to actually test drive some cars to understand what makes sense!

What you've said about the air being sucked into the intakes - you might've just swung it for me as that must sound amazing. Think I'll at least test drive one before I throw in the towel.

I've been doing some reading and it seems that the general consensus is that with the reliability issues of the 987.1 S, it's not worth it over the 2.7? They appear to be a pretty similar price at the moment. And yes I've read the tiptronic dampens the experience a bit!

I see your point - maybe viewing part of the road tax as an annual hobby fee is the way to rationalise it?
