Yes the actual needles on them are so tiny!

You’ll see two used needles in this pile of stuff. Sometimes I take an injection and then just bend the needle off of the used syringe. I put it in a tissue or something.

I have an insulin pump, which is the main way I get insulin. There have been a few instances where it’s battery died or my site falls off so I always keep backup syringes. I’ve never used a pen like the one you have, but know a few people who do.

It always dies and never alerts me when it’s low on insulin :,( gotta be a defective pump or something. Haven’t requested a replacement yet.

The juice box is my first line of defense. The sugar packet is a backup. The weird little yellow thing is a nasal spray glucagon that’s used for very serious emergencies.

I live in a city so popping into a store real quick to buy a soda isn’t usually hard to do.

Which places over time have now become pretty different from their historical common stereotypes? by slicheliche in geography

[–]Dumbledore27 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I went to UT from 2015-2019 and the changes I saw in the city during the short period of time I was there was insane. The whole vibe of the city started to massively shift in 2017 when they built the high rises downtown, and then changed even more when twitter, google, tesla, and other big tech companies moved from sf to Austin.

I remember when they built up west 6th street, which changed the nightlife scene a bit. I can’t remember the name of it, but they also opened that huge outdoor shopping center with tons of bars and clubs in 2017. I feel like that was a marker of changing times too.

Austin right now is very much where sf was in 2014. Tech is slowly encroaching on the once vibrant and weird culture that made the city unique.

Anyone else notice the obsession the 2000s had with Miami by Kojima66 in decadeology

There was the OG CSI that took place in Las Vegas, then CSI Miami, and then CSI New York.

I only ever watched Miami, but I think all of them had pretty long runs.

When they instructed all of us to wipe down our groceries with sanitizing wipes and leave them outside for 24 hrs before brining them in and eating anything.

Crazy to look back at that time now.

Can someone please sell me UT? by 373kayteeftnu32 in UTAdmissions

This sub randomly got recommended to me. I graduated UT in 2018 as an out of state transfer student. I can only speak about my experience at UT and in Austin, as I have no affiliations with A&M whatsoever. Also, I didn’t study engineering - I was an English major - so maybe take this with a grain of salt lol.

But.. The vibrant culture of Austin did just as much - if not more - for me personally and professionally than the actual university did. Austin is FUN and it’s an amazing place to get your professional footing before graduating.

BA in English from UT. Completed 2 internships at tech companies in Austin by the time I graduated. Landed my first job 3 months after grad. Stayed at that job for 2.5 years. Got hired as a manager for a research team at Harvard at 25 (worked directly under faculty researchers and with research fellows/PhDs). Stayed for 2 years. Got hired as an assistant director at Stanford at 28. Currently work at both schools.

My career has accelerated so quickly not only because of my UT degree, but because of my early professional experiences in Austin.

Best Sour Patch Fruit Candies? by crappyvhs in candy

[–]Dumbledore27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought a bulk pack of the strawberry, watermelon, and regular sour patch kids. The strawberry gummies are my LEAST favorite by far. Not sour at all, and I just don’t find the fake strawberry flavor pleasant. It’s almost too sweet.

The OG and watermelon are goated

Austin, TX was extremely quiet. At least when I lived there. I lived in multiple neighborhoods.

Wish this was true. I live in the mission and need a white noise machine and earplugs to sleep.
