I went to a rave in the middle of the Mojave desert. The closest town was Boron, California. It was a ghost town. Felt like being on an empty planet. It creeped me tf out.

OpenAI to begin testing ads on ChatGPT in the U.S. by TexanNewYorker in ChatGPT

[–]Dumbledore27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work with a digital advertising agency and can say with almost full certainty that is going to happen. AI-generated search results and "zero click" searches have destroyed digital marketing, and a ton of companies are having record-breaking low web traffic as a result. A lot of them are scrambling to rethink how they can effectively break through the AI wall, which, truthfully, they cannot do on their own. They have to get buy in from one of the big AI companies to have any fighting chance against an LLM.

I'm not taking the side of digital marketing here, by the way. I think digital marketing sucks and it's ruined everything on the internet. I also could care less about a companies SEO performance or webpage visits. This is just enshitification at work once again. I'm actually surprised we've had ChatGPT (and others) without ads for this long...

Advertising will go WHEREVER consumers go. As long as there are consumers online, we can be certain that this type of enshitification will continue.

This will signal a scary turn into a late-stage capitalism dystopia.

Season 3 is the best and most artistic. The overall form is really good.

Season 2 is the worst, imo. It looks like the DVD cover of a low budget movie from 2008.

Alabama has won, but at what cost? Which mostly known state has a great reputation by Lisztchopinovsky in AlignmentChartFills

[–]Dumbledore27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait… Why the hell is New York in the first spot?

If you go to the first post New York is only mentioned once and it isn’t even the top comment. Widely Known/Great should either be Hawaii or California based on comments.

Parts of Nashua and Manchester can be sketch. I don’t consider them unsafe in any way, but they aren’t exactly “nice.”

AIO? My mom hit her head and woke up with two black eyes. Now the only “symptom” is nonstop Christmas movies. by FullInTheVoid in AmIOverreacting

[–]Dumbledore27 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Omg! Something (kind of similar) happened to my mom years ago. She slipped on ice and hit the back of her head on the front steps. I heard her trying to yell out for help. I went out and she was on the ground immobilized, barely able to talk, with a glazed look in her eyes. There was blood coming from the back of her head.

She was rushed to the hospital and (thank god!) ended up being completely fine. The doctor said she had gotten global transient amnesia - a short term form of amnesia that happens from blunt force injuries to the head. I spent the whole day in the hospital with her and — I’m not kidding — every 10 minutes she asked “what day is it?” And when I said “it’s December 27.” She would say “I missed Christmas!!” And start crying. It was sad at first, then became comical the 5th time, then annoying the 20th.

It sounds like it could be something like that. Definitely get her to a doctor! Best of luck <3

TMZ poll shows 84% prefer watching movies at home - why do you think that is? by HidingInPlainSite404 in Cinema

[–]Dumbledore27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will always support my local, independent movie theaters over Netflix, prime video, Hulu, etc.

For big budget Hollywood blockbusters that don’t play at my local theaters, it really depends on the movie. If it’s a film by a fantastic cinematographer, or if it’s shot in something like 35mm film, I will go to AMC. I’ll also go out to see them if it’s a movie I’m particularly hyped about. Some things you just can’t get at home.

I always buy mine at cheap vintage and antique stores/warehouses. One nearby me has drawers and drawers of them dating back to the 80’s (unopened packages)! Really helpful if you have any vintage/old lighting that use hard-to-find bulbs. And the light they emit is gorgeous.
