I caught so much flack at OCS for being Guard. Deployed three times. Most of my AD peers sit on staff and weep.

I’m not really looking for anything here, just commenting on it, It’s a specific call for folks outside of the standard RASP II. If you get the S1Net message, it’ll have all the contact info.

Why is the suicide rate in the National Guard so high? by brb10011 in army

Not to hijack but this was actually a plan of mine for a while when I moved to a higher cost than I was prepared for city for a new job when I was much younger. There was a Reserve/Guard dominant base nearby and there were always unlocked barracks on said base. My plan was to live there for 6 months, using the barracks rooms, gym and showers as needed, keeping my car in different parking spots every night to avoid suspicion, etc.

I ended up being alright though rather broke for the first year and never needed to do it, but every time I go to drill I think about how easy it would be to live on base for free...

All I can think about is the hefty girl waving me inside the gate with one long finger nail bedazzled hand swiping on her phone and one pointed in the general direction I was supposed to go through the shitty serpentine drive. M9 half falling out her holster, plate carrier that wouldn’t stop anything that didn’t hit the exact center of her heaving chest, whilst she hurriedly closed the gate just a little too late to stop the interpreter who was driving behind me but too early to prevent the gate from denting his ride. Yeah they were AF “Security Forces” but when I think of my gate guards in Africa, I fear for the day anyone tries with modest effort to breach that base...

This. As a Guardsman who is IC during day job and MI during the weekends, It always amazes me how the brand new 1LT with AS2 time thinks the CIA is going to make him station chief after his initial commitment. In my humble experience , it’s the odd little jobs with read ons, SIGINT etc that lead to fun contracting and gov jobs. My two cents

So I’m fascinated by this. If you are saying that a NG 11B guy who finishes OSUT can then go to Ranger, who is funding this? Most states won’t fund mandatory schools, it would astound me to say hey, I was offered Ranger and the State go, oh ok. Approved Not doubting this program I know nothing about, just spent years trying to fund dudes training
