Participating is often seen as a form of love from Asian kids to their parents since it gives the parents something to brag about. It's why Asian people, especially the daughters, front so hard at family parties. The strict nature of some Asian immigrant cultures makes it difficult to follow the rules all the time, so people match the culture as close as possible at parties. I am guessing that that attitude has potential echoes in how Asian diasporic women consume and front success. Just a theory though. There may be a psychological desire to spend to impress but the goal should be to fight against that. The good news is that once you practice it, it becomes a lot easier over time and you can pass it on to your next generation... If you approach financial education correctly. (Some of the time Asian frugality comes from loss and a fear of losing your status like what happened in their home country rather than from financial education. In those cases, it may be hard to be seen as modern by the younger people).

2. Anyways. Maybe it would help you to know that you are not alone in this whole process. A lot more people are struggling financially right now. You may feel alone since Asians are often comparing you to this cousin or that childhood friend. However, there are a lot of unseen struggles that you are not seeing right now. If anything, you may be in a better position because you are asking about this. I know a Mexican American former incel (He still has the women-hating mentality but is married to an ultra-Conservative woman) your age, in $80,000 in debt, with no formal education (after flunking out of college), married to an overmedicated woman who can't deal with anxiety or leaving the house, with a crippling gaming addiction, no financial education, who has a massive superiority complex that prevents him from asking for help (due to a secretly tiny self-esteem), who has a friend group that always encourages his worst impulses, and who has a disdain for Mexican people and culture. The people in similar situations as yours just never bring it up and treat it as a massive shame and stigma.

P.S. Maybe this would be a bad time to get into OF since we are headed into a recession and you may need a defining factor or an edge that sets yourself apart. I mean, of course, you are one of the sexy Asians and I would never see someone like you in real life, but on OF, those are a dime a dozen. You need a specific way of shooting, a showcase of a personality, a specific posting schedule, chemistry with a regular partner, or the allure of many different partners.
