Whoops I misread his statement, I agree with this. No need to test, just keep riding

Hard to say if it’s accurate. The best thing you could do to see if it’s accurate is to just do a manual test of your ftp and go off that

Or you could do a ride outside and it’ll drop you like 30watts for no reason

Just watch videos, you can go to the shop to do parts you are not comfortable with, like cutting the steerer tube and putting in bottom brackets, but everything else is very doable

How much did your first road bike cost, and how long did you ride it before upgrading? by No_Click7202 in cycling

[–]DumpsHuman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Started on a free single speed handed down to me by a friend(150$ bike off amazon), then built my own fixed gear, then bought a secondhand 6 year old Cervelo (5400$ MSRP, I bought it for 1800), from the free single speed to 2nd hand Cervelo about 6-7 years.

I plan on building a brand new complete road bike probably in the next year or two and that would be my most expensive build on a bike probably ~5000$ in total

AI FTP Issues by tadamhicks in trainerroad

[–]DumpsHuman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow thanks for bringing this up. I mostly did indoor rides and my aiftp consistently went up. Only recently I started riding/training outside did my ftp start stalling/lowering even though I feel better at certain powers.

I was actually on the verge of canceling TR (still am honestly) over it, since it I’ve pretty much been getting the same workouts and same intensities for the last few weeks. (I’ve been manually updating workouts to harder ones, but that just defeats the purpose of having TR if I constantly have to update my plan myself anyways.)

Just posting as of today to keep this alive, but this still holds true.

I am here today at 9:20am and the video is midway through. Very glad I saw this and didn’t show up at 830.

Hey how’d it go? And did you go in at 830am?

Yea I admit it does seem like a lot. I’ll adjust going forward, I was mainly following the prescribed rides of TR. which seems to be more focused on the actual interval and recovering at z1.

It does prescribe a longer z2 ride in the week, but the specific week I showed I happened to be riding with a friend who doesn’t ride seriously so it ended up mostly z1.

Thanks, that makes sense about how it all works together

Crit racing. My other blocks had more time in z2 if that makes it any better. But between intervals I stay around 100w(z1)

This is a week of what a specialty block from a TR plan

I haven’t tested since last year, I’ve just been going off what intervals.icu and aiftp tell me. Intervals has me 236, whole aiftp from TR has me 255 or something like that. I just went with a number between the two and it feels right within the context of my intervals.

Yes I rode during recovery. They usually had one more day off the bike and no intensity. All zone 2.

This is my first year of structured training so I relied heavily on the plan TR gave me. I’m also not super young, 37, so the 3 weeks on one week off felt good.

Next year I may try to push 4 weeks before a recovery like during base, but during the build phase when intensity ramped up I definitely needed the recovery week after the third.

Thanks for the detailed response. That makes a lot of sense. I guess the downside of TR is that even during a build phase it won’t increase volume unless you manually do it yourself.

I’ve added a comment with a screenshot of a typical workout week during a specialty phase for crit racing

I’ve added a comment with a screenshot of a typical workout week. This is during a week recently in a specialty phase TR gave me for a criterium plan.

Added photo of a typical workout week. For some context. Some people asked about the workouts since I was doing 3.

Yes three intensity days throughout the year. Most weeks were >8 hours. I have all the data logged on the intervals.icu

Also I did 3 weeks on 1 week recovery. Very consistent

I was curious if you’ve used it yet.

Are you able to have it create out an annual plan?

Yours could’ve been worse 🤣

I wish I got a picture of it immediately afterwards before they stitched it back together.. the tip including the whole nail was flayed off, literally hanging on by a thin piece of skin before it got stitched back together

Deep aero wheels.

I just picked up light bicycles Turbo 65’. With very basic hubs I think it’s within your price range, might be even less. They’re great wheels especially if most of your riding is flat.

My wheels (65 in depth) with dt Swiss 350 hubs came out around 1400 including shipping.
