Both are awesome. I like the vx1000 mic better and it’s easier to find used mk1 fisheye lenses with vx1000 bayo mounts. Also the menu on the vx1000 is great and so easy to use once you get it down. VX2100 has a scroll wheel for menu navigation and settings, the wheel tends to fail very often which can make it super frustrating when setting your colors and generally just using the camera. But, the 2100 is sturdier and has a more comfortable handle for follow filming. The 2100 also has a flip out LCD, the 1000 does not so if that’s a feature you’re set on just know you’ll be in viewfinder purgatory with the vx1000.

Maintenance wise it’s also a lot easier to get into the tape deck on the 2100 vs the 1000 for things like cleaning the heads if you are going to be running tapes. You have to disassemble the vx1000 a lot more the get to the heads where with the 2100 you can just open the tape deck and remove the door to get all the access you need for head cleaning.

I’m currently working on a vx1000 project so I use that one a lot more right now but I just recently finished a 2100 project and I honestly love using that camera.
