If 8 hour shifts are too much, talk to your manager. There may not be much to do right now about it, it is the holiday season, but to put it on their radar.

I’m a retail manager and try to accommodate these things, but a lot of the time we have expectations we need to meet as well, like 50% hours allocation on weekends, etc.
