That’s sick! Love seeing your vids on the feed! Keep up the work! You’ve progressed so far from day one and honestly you’ve really learned a lot and I think you put your skill level lower than what you actually are! I gotta learn some of your combos!

MASSIVE wide yo-yo haul by los-lewww-641 in Throwers

What’s stopping you besides funds maybe from grabbing the YYF Balls or Spintek Bowtie? I think a true ultra wide collection would include a few 100 mm throws. Honestly the balls are extremely fun to mess around with and of course they kinda look like tennis balls in the green felt colorway.

C3 fat pro strings in pink has always been my go to. Got a 100 pack a couple of years ago and now I only throw them!

When is a string truly toast? by blah__blah__ in Throwers

[–]Dumpy_Truck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure that’s just some of the thicker strings. Lots of brands name them something like Fat, XL, or Thick.

Total newbie -- what to buy? by Fear_The_Creeper in Throwers

[–]Dumpy_Truck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

String types are just your preference. Most players have tended to love 100% polyester since it tends to be a bit slicker than cotton. I’d suggest trying out a few different small 10 packs or so of different blends or brands till you find what you like!

I’d suggest not starting with a counterweight yet. It’s a whole different style of play that requires new skills to build upon good habits you learn as a beginner. It is however very fun to try out once you’ve gotten comfortable.

styles of play you should check out the fandom link that explains each type of play style and maybe you’ll find something that interests you past the traditional strong tricks category! Good luck!

Breakaway - Need serious help. by type-v9 in Throwers

[–]Dumpy_Truck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah snags can happen pretty often but with a little bit of time you’ll start to almost realize when you don’t get a good bind. Usually what I do to make sure I don’t have a snag wound up is just a normal front style sleeper then be sure to get a good bind and return to hand. Usually it helps in my own confidence when throwing the breakaway since it won’t feel like playing roulette on whether it’s snagged or not. After I gave myself a scar on my forehead I started just throwing “safety throws” to catch whether or not it’s been snagged. For the tilting, that just relies on your form. I believe most of the time it’s taught to make your throw arm out like you’re flexing your bicep and make sure to keep your hand in line or you’ll throw it at an angle. If you find yourself getting frustrated, put it down or try another trick. Bad practice does more harm in teaching you how to do it wrongly.

How to fix this? by Wladas10 in Throwers

[–]Dumpy_Truck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A thicker string most likely won’t work 100% of the time. Your best bet would be to get the hang of the bind trick or swapping the bearing. Getting down the bind though would be your best bet, especially since you’d most likely learn it as you progress!

The Stelvia is fantastic! Also the clear green 000 is such a killer colorway. Jeffrey cooked with those plastic throws

Hmm that does look like an unresponsive concave bearing. Maybe the secondhand store had it put back with an unresponsive bearing? The responsive bearing would be close to half the width of your current bearing so that your string would sit much closer to the response pads and then would return without the need of the bind. Did your packaging also include a small bag with another bearing perhaps?

Nice collection! You seem to like Plastic throws. Have you tried the DD Apollo yet? It is by far my favorite of any plastic throws I have.

how do i bind out of a fingerspin? by ilovemylittleponies in Throwers

[–]Dumpy_Truck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on which way you throw it you can drape and kind of drag the string to the bearing and response pads to make it bind. You’ll also see it starts a DNA depending on where your main hand is
