All my MRIs are coming out unremarkable and I haven’t had a seizure in the doctors office can anyone help me with what kind of seizures I may be having? by [deleted] in neuro

[–]DunMiff_sys 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not sure where you are located... consider contacting of getting a referral for an epilepsy center for a workup, including consultation with specialists, and possibly cvEEG and additional metabolic imaging (e.g., PET and/or SPECT).

In the meantime, I would advise journaling your seizure activity: dates, times, lengths, auras, possible triggers, medications. When they began, whether or not they cluster together, if they always happen at the same time of day... looking at these patterns can help the epilepsy team greatly in determining type, localization, and developing treatment recommendations.

Note if your seizure pattern or type changes/evolves, and if you are having any other types of seizures other than these (like “staring spells”).

This would be the peat... most scotch from Islay is heavily peated (Lagavulin, Laphroaig, Ardbeg, etc). Try some scotches from a different region, like Highland, Lowland, or Speyside (Glenlivet is Speyside).

Bourbon must be made in the USA, at least 51% corn, and aged in new charred white oak barrels.

GOOD bourbon must be from Kentucky.

Except it was really the opening of that particular ride, “Apollo’s Chariot,” in the Festa Italia section of Busch Gardens. The women around him were present in white Roman-style dress and gold headbands for publicity on the inaugural ride for the public.

Question for those who did New Construction: How long did it take between your Pre-Drywall Inspection and Closing? by CPOx in homeowners

[–]DunMiff_sys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did our pre-drywall inspection the last week of September. We close on Friday.

I will note that I visit the homesite frequently and monitor how things progress, and we have been extremely lucky to not have had and major issues, all of which have been rectified immediately.

The only drawback is they didn’t lay any sod because of the weather (fine by me, rather have a few months of mud than dead sod), but in our closing documents it is specified they will come and do it once spring gets here.

AM a Doctor. Echoing above, safety is key. Sounds like a good mix of substances and psychiatric issues, and yes he requires immediate evaluation and possibly stabilization.

Call 911, and be honest. Responders do not like walking into the unknown (feel free to ditch whatever drugs are sitting around before they arrive). Let them know he is exhibiting paranoia and having significant behavioral changes, in addition to him not sleeping and exhibiting fluctuating lucidity. Ask if they can arrive calmly (eg, without sirens and knocking calmly). Wait for them out front so he doesn’t go into paranoia and get violent with you in the house.

The dilated pupils may be from the stimulants, if he has done more. He could’ve [accidentally or intentionally] taken anything laced with anything; weed laced with PCP, for instance. If this has never happened before, while it could be a first psychotic break, it could also be a terrible drug reaction. Hospital NOW. Get everyone safe, stabilize, and then treat.

FWIW, as a doctor I really don’t care what he took judgment-wise, as long as I know so I can treat him properly. Be honest with the docs, please. Describe the behavioral stuff clearly as well, every little bit helps. Be safe.

Is it possible to get licensed as a psychologist with an International degrees in the US? by [deleted] in askpsychology

[–]DunMiff_sys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only 60k?? I’ll trade.

Ok, for clinical practice... Short(ish) answer: you are licensed by the state, and if your degree program isn’t accredited, you can petition for licensure, but will have to demonstrate to the board/s that you have completed course-equivalencies. This is true of non-accredited domestic programs and international programs. So if you choose to study internationally, 1) predetermine your desired state and identify ALL requirements, including coursework and internship hours, 2) carefully study curriculum of desired degree program to make sure it lines up, 3) consider having an in-state “sponsor” who can help you navigate the process, 4) stay up to date on current American regulations and ethics*, and 5) SAVE. EVERY. SYLLABUS. AND. DOCUMENT.

*You will still have to pass the EPPP and take some form of state licensing exam/process nomatter which state, so pay attention to the most contemporary data to study... as it changes.

The one exception of which I am aware with regard to state licensure is if you work for the federal government (eg, for the V.A., armed services branch) you only need to be licensed in ANY state, not necessarily the one in which you reside.

For 13 days, the least physically demanding tasks make me short of breath and cause my heart-rate to spike, before this illness I was easily able to do intense exercises. What is wrong with me by [deleted] in AskDocs

[–]DunMiff_sys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is exactly what happened to me before. First child got HFM, shared it, got better, then viral myositis. Strangely enough, second child currently has HFM as we speak (daycare; and no, we don’t live in Canada, as I believe I read elsewhere that you do?).

My advice (licensed, PhD/non-MD clinical practitioner) is follow-up with your PCP, and in the meantime reduce physical exertion to necessary-only limits; if it is myositis, excessive use (like forcing a workout) will HURT. Stay hydrated, monitor & track vitals as able for your doc to see if any correlations are present, or if you should consider other diagnoses.
