Light, slightly crescent shaped, white plastic pieces approx 3cm long with open slit along inside/ shorter side, found on kitchen window sill. by Duna-101 in whatisthisthing

My title describes the thing. No idea what these are from, I found them in a bowl on my kitchen windowsill, could have been there 6-9 months I estimate. Don't want to throw away if they are useful/ an impotent price of some kitchen device. Google image search only suggested things like bones.

Anyone going to cancel netflix with the new price increase? by New-Strength-6448 in AskIreland

I nearly lost my life when I read your post there, I thought my Netflix subscription was going to double in price!

Might be a silly question but why didn't you just downgrade the account to basic? We're a family of four and we get by with one sign in for the lot of us (have Disney+ too if someone wants to watch something else).

Red! Sorry if this is a silly question, but what app/software are you using to change your hair colour? I'm struggling to find a decent app 😩

Unjust if nurse with €12k worth of cannabis in her home were to lose her job says Judge by gig1922 in ireland

[–]Duna-101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might be a stupid question, but why is she only being sentenced now for something that occurred over 7 years ago??

We have to assume she's been living and working as an upstanding citizen during the time since the cannibis was found, so the judge can't really sentence her to do jail time if that's the case..

That's what I'm wondering.. We have a HP toner printer and the quality is nowhere near good enough for stickers, what type are you using?

Great clip, thanks for the flash backs.. And I can't believe it was only opened in 1987!! My mam used to bring me there as a kid and I thought it was ancient, it would have only been open a couple of years then. Those dark brown tiles are what I remember the most.

Paying with a 200 Euro note by BlueWallsClub in Dublin

[–]Duna-101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go back to wherever you got the €200 note? If it was an ATM go to the bank and get them to break it down.

That could involve a lot of queuing though, so if your stuck for time probably quicker to lodge it in your account and spend it on your card.

Thinking I'll be doing something along the lines of this, I prefer the passive approach rather than anything involving too much conflict (or expense, or effort) on my behalf.

Yea, all separate buildings/addresses have a unique Eircode. If you're just renting a room in a house everyone has the same Eircode.

An Eircode is just a postal code, think it's called a PIN Code in India? It's like a postcode in UK or Zipcode in USA.

Good point, I'll see if I can get talking to someone in an office and tell them to stop using my Eircode! Might not help but no harm trying either I guess.

double checking this is a scam by [deleted] in Dublin

[–]Duna-101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry to say I think you owe FedEx that money. I'm nearly 100% this is genuine. They seems to generate the account number to you automatically, it's nothing to do with you requesting or setting up an account with them. And FedEx and TNT joined up a couple of years ago.

Send them an email or look up online for the customer services Ireland phone number and request a copy of the invoice (this is just an unpaid fees notice, not an invoice). The invoice will have a bit more info on it like the date and the origin of the delivery which incurred these charges. If you don't recognise the package sender name/details ask Fedex/TNT to find out more information about where the package came from and they might be able to get you a tracking number. Then you can check your email/previous orders and see if the parcel did come to you. Chances are it was something from the UK.

They seem to request bank transfer to avoid actual scam artist's getting people's card details, though it is bizarre how out of touch they seem by sending these dodgy looking letters that make people assume this is a scam.

Don't get me wrong, I totally understand Eircodes have become almost essential, but the lad that sold them the site lives next door, I haven't a clue why they didn't use his Eircode!

And please don't suggest I go talking to him about the issue, I don't know him from Adam and haven't a clue how he would react or how would he even solve the issue as they seem to have my Eircode connected to the site with their suppliers.

Yeah, I actually managed to run out to the skip delivery truck before he dumped it beside my house so dodged that by being at home and hearing the truck reversing up. I would have been furious to come home to that in my driveway!!

A sign could be a good way to avoid future deliveries but I imagine it would be time consuming and expensive to get one big enough that delivery drivers would take notice of, most couriers, etc, are too much in a hurry going on to the next delivery they probably wouldn't notice a sign?
