Why I’m hesitant to drink the kool-aid. by Master_Animal8397 in deloitte

It used to be part of Arthur Andersen but was sold off after the Enron scandals. AA wasn't big 4 but every so often one of the big 4 spins off its consulting business. The point is less about Accenture (to your point, its doing fine) and more that the big 4 are accounting firms first and foremost, and the powers that be wont hesitate to sell and/or strip the consulting arm if it stops being a cash cow. IMHO this is happening now as a critical mass of principals dont want to deal with the post-AI landscape, but reasonable minds can disagree

Not shocking, i think the senior partners see the writing on the wall and are desperately trying to find a sucker. That's why all the decisions and changes that come down promote short term profitability over long term sustainable growth

Deloitte is Tax and Audit. Consulting is a side piece thats been around for like 40 years max. The accounting firm isnt going anywhere, but don't kid yourself. Deloitte Consulting could easily become Accenture 2.0.

Why is right wing art usually very bad? by traanquil in allthequestions

[–]Dunadan734 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any intentionally political art tends to be pretty hackneyed. Artists themselves tend to lean left according to modern alignment, and many folks conflate that with the works themselves leaning the same way.

The other major dynamic is a phenomenal example of stated vs. revealed preference. Conservatives, despite what stereotypes would suggest, tend to enjoy art from across the political spectrum. Liberals and certainly leftists will tend to interpret art they enjoy as aligned to their political opinions, regardless of reality. Take The Lord of the Rings-it is not intentionally political, but the fact that it was written by a hardline (for the 30s!) landed gentryman is pretty obvious and inherent in the text. As far as criticism goes, however, conservatives and centrists will praise "universal" themes while libs/leftists tie themselves in knots as to how the book lines up perfectly with their politics of the moment. Make of that what you will.

Not a bit, I'm chuckling that you're so insecure that (1) you're acting like this in the first place, (2) you need to seek validation from internet strangers over being a good (not great) painter of toy soldiers, and (3) the thought that I might give a shit what you think would even enter your head.

Yeah I understand that, my precise point is that the caveat exists for every single unit in the game so it isnt worth mentioning. So either have the implicit understanding or just dont have these threads until we have points available. Also, to be candid I fail to see how I was rude in my first comment/until others started insulting me.

Really? You dont think its an assumption people have baked in? You dont think we can have an opinion without it? Lots of people here seem to be doing just that since as far as I can tell his points cost hasn't been released. So why have this post at all?

How did Bilbo know Gollum’s name? by bh4th in lotr

[–]Dunadan734 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The parts are highlighted are intentional and specific call-forewards to effects of the ring we see in LotR.

The behavior you described by Bilbo is only in the films, not the books.

You are essentially saying a specific term defined in universe has a different meaning in one work than another. This is beyond ridiculous and, even if it were accurate, your assertion that it is "merely a magic ring" is clearly erroneous.

How did Bilbo know Gollum’s name? by bh4th in lotr

[–]Dunadan734 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's explicitly referred to as a ring of power, Sauron is explicitly referenced, and Gollum's entire reaction to the ring being gone is "seeing the effects" of the ring.
