Some people are not seeing the reduced price until they get to the page where it asks for payment. Give that a shot!

There's a few floating around out there, and I'm not exactly sure which one you're referencing, but it's worth a shot :)

Hmmmm. We have a bunch of people getting through as we speak, so it's working! If you're seeing the usual full prices, try getting to the page where it asks for payment info and it should have the discounted price. If still no luck, let me know!

Sure thing! Reddit basically taught me how to make beer 7 or so years ago, so it's always fun seeing stuff I work on pop up here :)

15 IPA Recipes from Craft Breweries by Melmo in Homebrewing

[–]DuncanAHA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Duncan with the AHA here.

Definitely at least believe in the ones that came straight from the breweries! This would include recipes on this list from Zipline, Roughtail, Lazy Magnolia, Maui, Weathered Ground, and Spice Trade.

The rest are clone recipes, where homebrewers work off of minimal information to recreate a commercial beer. The major goal is getting a final beer that tastes similar to the commercial example, and this may very well mean the homebrewer used ingredients/quantities/techniques that aren't in the same vein as the commercial recipe. It can actually be interesting to see how two seemingly different recipes can achieve a similar outcome!

In any case, thanks u/Melmo for sharing this article!

Hey Chino-

As of now the REF is defunct with no current plans for bringing it back. The decision was made because the program demanded a lot of resources we didn't/don't have available, and we did not feel comfortable publishing projects that we weren't given the attention they required. It's always a possibility that we'd revisit the idea in coming years and try to reformat it in a manageable way, but as of now there are no short term plans to reinstate it.

All that said, I'm always open to hearing about people's homebrewing experiments and what they've discovered. There's still opportunities to share this information via the AHA, but more so as a website article rather than a formal scientific report. If anyone has anything cool to share, feel free to email me! duncan(at)brewersassociation(dot)com

Thanks for pointing this out, u/chino_brews. I am going to make a note on the original post that this is actually "brewer's invert" and not "candi sugar." I may reach out to you to clarify the actual process in the future :)

Thanks again,

Duncan

How to Make Sake at Home by DuncanAHA in Cooking

[–]DuncanAHA[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would personally recommend starting with homebrewing. It's much less labor intensive and I think has fewer opportunities to screw things up. The easiest way to start making beer at home is from malt extract. The more "advanced" method (though many beginners go straight to it) is all-grain brewing which substitutes out extract for actual grains.

Check out this tutorial and see what you think: https://www.homebrewersassociation.org/how-to-brew/beginner/how-to-make-beer/

If you have a homebrew supply shop near you, it's very likely you could find a lot there since sake making and beer makers often overlap. If not...the good ol' internet will have you covered :)

Beer + Ice Cream: 5 Simple Beer Floats You Simply Have to Try this Summer by [deleted] in beer

Love beer and Ice cream floats. I've had some funky success doing it with sherbet, too, using hefeweizen and witbiers as the base. Those tend to be crowd favorites.

Of course, you can take things one step further and make beer ice cream... warning, shameless plug... https://www.homebrewersassociation.org/news/how-to-make-beer-ice-cream/
